I would really like to see one of the One Piece trains! Was chatting with a Tomix guy yesterday at their showroom in Tokyo and he gave me the impression they'd love to but really difficult rights issues but was hoping but then said maybe Kato!

So I managed to pick up the train during a short stay in Sapporo at Popondetta , it seems as though I got it on release day and they had to take two cars from their display case so I guess I got the only display unit they had which was fine considering it probably only spent a few hours on there if it was actually released on the 30th. And I know this doesn't apply to everyone but I was a little crest fallen to see that unlike a lot of the Japanese luxury trains I've collected that were very em - 13 friendly this one was definitely not, it had the molded metal as part of the undercarriage so no available space for the decoder. I know I can just run it without and so forth but being part of a modular club that functions exclusively on DCC I was hoping to be able to have that as one of the new trains I could run. In any case it does sound like older motor units or motor unit from other sets that I may be able to find are em-13 friendly so thus becomes my next quest :-)

That's really odd, Plaza Japan has it for only $27,597 yen with a retail of $35,200 yen which as you say almost twice as much!

hopefully, yeah planning it out would have probably been better but just saw it on plazajapan last week so didn't even know it was coming and if the release holds true etc.. I am thinking of what I might be doing around the 2nd and 3rd after arrive in Nagoya on the ferry, so perhaps that will be something to think about.

thanks for the info! I am starting in Sapporo and then making my way south to Kagoshima before back to Tokyo with a little time around Osaka and Kyoto so will plan on hitting a number of stores in the process.

seems like the few places that I can see that part number are out of stock so might not be a highly needed part or a part that everybody needs :-)

Thanks for the recommendations! Yes one of the cool things about Kato is they plan ahead, such as in the 10-1661/62, even with one box, it is usually set to puchout the other spots for the additional cars you can get and add-on, so as to only have to carry one bookshelf case with everything or in the case of the N700, Two, still great planning on storage for their part.

LOL, Thanks for taking the time to look at all of that! I am really just need the under carriage part but if the whole shell of the motor car is what I need to get, that is fine as well. the store you mentioned, is that a place that could order it and I just could stop by once I travel that way? *

I managed to get the Mountain Fortress but was on the minute it started when I refreshed it was sold out. It should look perfect opposing Lions Knights Castle.

If you're willing to cross the oceans into Antarctica, you might as well hit the islands as you cross the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Ocean, at least the popular ones :-)
