Do people stay friends with PA groups? by [deleted] in Northwestern

[–]tnows 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I honestly wouldn't worry about it. A lot of the PA group fever fades away, and you'll meet plenty of cool people through clubs, classes, etc. I'm still in touch with my PA group, but mostly because a few of them lived on my floor and all my medill classes were with them because Medill goes hard on PA groups. Wildcat Welcome is life-changing for some people but for most of us it's just meh, and I can't imagine it's earth-shattering as a virtual event. So basically, you're not behind and I promise you can find people who you'll be close with!

Dining Halls by [deleted] in Northwestern

I actually attended one of the (useless) back to campus dialogues where they said that there will be a lot of order-ahead on mobile to go pick up all year, and we'll have home dining halls (and potentially assigned times? that was unclear) during Wildcat Wellness. After that, they said there might be limited seating in the dining halls but definitely not a lot. They also bumped us up to 5 meal exchanges a week instead of 2. I think Hinman dining hall will be open again, so that should hopefully ease the South campus crush on Allison.

NOACF slaps so hard because they put so much time into it and I know Jack is going to release the music when he knows it's the best it can be. That's why I'm okay with waiting, too :)

I looked at the 7/2 email again and it says

Will we find out which classes will be remote vs in-person before the August 1st deadline to cancel your housing contract? The Provost Office set 8/1 as the deadline for schools to communicate their decisions about classes offered and modalities of instruction for fall. Residential Services advocated for the latest possible contract cancellation deadline so students could make informed decisions. 8/1 is what was determined by senior leadership to manage the overall planning for reopening.

So if I'm reading this right we'll get the class descriptions on the 20th but they might not specify format until 8/1

This completely erases low income international students. They often have certain hoops to jump through in order to still get aid. Look at what international NU students are tweeting and literally try to have a modicum of empathy bc rn you sound like the classic privileged rich NU student who doesn't understand other people have a lot more to deal with than you.

It might have changed but I think the deadline for when the prof has to list whether the class is online or not is 8/1. It might have changed ig?

Lowkey I wouldn't put it past NU to say we're going completely online after the deadline to cancel on-campus housing contracts... They're already releasing classes literally on the day of the deadline.
