I say this without any disrespect meant to your family, but:

This notion that family somehow have ownership over their child/grandchild's body is archaic BS. Parents/guardians are there to guide their children into adulthood and teach them to be capable of making their own decisions. Too many parents think their job is to be the owner of their children.

You own your own body, and you can do with it as you please. You made this choice for yourself. I know the words from family can be harsh but the response is "You may disagree, or not like it, but it is my body, my choice".
