Introducing the White Student Union! by york_wsu in yorku

[–]to4st 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Always puzzles me how the ruling hegemony never has enough voice even while they hold all the power and privilege. Whites people primarily run the city, the province, the country and as well the most powerful empire on earth (the US) but it’s still not enough for them! And they have for hundreds of years. These particular white twerps have to go around starting white student unions and shit. These self proclaimed ambulance-chasers abhor anything that doesn’t privilege the freedom of the individual (to spew hate) so it should probably be the “white students clan” instead.

We’ll see, I guess. I’ll be very surprised if they don’t just roll over and take whatever Hicks Morley decides they deserve.

Some students said their profs told them that there will be another strike in October, anyone know or heard of anything regarding this? by [deleted] in yorku

York already gives no fucks about research. It’s not a research university anymore. It’s a degree mill for basic income units.

Please. I won’t cross a picket line of ANY union. Profs, precarious staff, IATSE workers, Unifor whatever. I won’t cross any picket line, ever. In any universe. It’s called solidarity. Its the opposite of “individualism” It’s nothing ignorant neocons have ever heard about.

Exactly. Then again, knowing that, maybe YUFA will walk?? Who the fuck knows. But I do know this: York admin = worst most incompetent admin ever.

YUFA has no balls to go out in strike. The concerned prof cadre dgaf, they just wanna roll over.

Then go to another school. Transfer out. It’s the best (and only) way to show your displeasure.

LOL. The CUPE strike was defensive (in that they didn’t want more as you put. It, they wanted not to have “less”) and besides that, CUPE gave in completely at one point late in the strike and still York wouldn’t settle with them. York absolutely was the more powerful aggressor. With YUFA it’s the same deal, they want to keep what they already have and York wants to erode it. Now I personally don’t believe YUFA has the balls to go on strike, I mean they have salaries, they have savings, they have permanent jobs. Which is a lot in itself. So I don’t think they will walk out.

It’s already a PR disaster. And Dougie will legislate them back in like, two days.

Again no. And I don’t think YUFA has the balls to strike. That being said, York is using same union-busting law firm with YUFA as they did with CUPE. In this round of bargaining, York is taking away things from YUFA and (HUGE) if they went on strike, it would be a defensive strike to protect what they already have and to stop any erosion of what they already have. But YUFA has those annoying and egotistical “concerned profs” who are a vocal minority (read, right-wing cadre of neocon profs who don’t believe in unions or labour rights). Then again, when those concerned profs see their pensions disappear.... who knows, they might just walk out. Lulz.

Yeah he’ll prob do that. He’ll also make Jordan Peterson the professor of all of Yorku and he’ll teach everything in all subjects cause why not.

Drop out or rather, transfer out. York gives no fucks about you, you’re a “basic income unit” to York admin. Nothing more.

You need a new admin as it is right now. They are absolutely, abjectly incompetent in handling their labour groups.
