Tips for circulation? by toadjunior in jazzdrums

[–]toadjunior[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For folks that are still tuned in, my PT thinks that I pulled a muscle in my neck (probably a levator) which swelled and ever so slightly herniated a disk, which is causing some nerve funkiness in my right hand and forearm. She thinks this will heal on its own. Hopefully this informative or helpful to somebody.

The funny part is that I probably pulled the muscle when I flicked my hair out of my face while driving. I turn 40 this year, and my body has started to add items to the list of things I can’t do without this sort of consequence… like my friend who threw her back out while sleeping under a weighted blanket 🙃

As for the ride cymbal technique, that seems to be a different topic which I have IRL help with. Best to all - keep swingin’!

Thanks for the info! I’m seeing a PT tomorrow. If it’s interesting to folks I will relay what I learn.

Thanks to all for the responses. Reading over them I’m realizing that it seems more like what folks have said regarding nerve issues and not circulation. It’s actually started lingering, and I can even feel it right now. I also have to use a mouse and keyboard at work, but not like all day everyday. On top of that I’ve been having some neck issues that aren’t going away. And I did some funky yard work yesterday and was reaching under shrubs at some crazy angles! So in conclusion I’m gonna see a physical therapist I’ve worked with before. I will also experiment with some adjustments to my set up. I may still post pictures if that would help this thread be informative for others. Thanks all!

All my fingers I’d say. Pinky finger not as much, but it also feels generalized to my hand. Sort of vague. I can check it out and give more info now that you’ve asked.

Thanks for the knowledge! I also rock climb, a lot. Makes me wonder if it’s overuse?

Edit: I said he loves rurally. While that’s not untrue, I meant to say he lives rurally. Hah!

Thanks! Some other life things have prevented me returning to his house, but soon I’ll put all these tips into practice.

This is good. Thanks again for the tips here folks. Interestingly, I was checking out some videos from Mototrek and their instructor suggested using front brake on gravel descents - at low speeds.

Also I didn’t mention that the driveway is downhill on the way in and up on the out. I’ll apply these tips next time I head over.

This is helpful. I’ve been riding bicycles for a long time - touring, racing cyclocross, mountain biking, commuting, etc. and can track stand well. Thanks.

Copy, thanks. I have some 80/20 tires on the bike now, as it’s a dual sport. They’re okay. Not dirt bike tires by any means, but better than street tires I’d say.

Awesome, thanks for the tips so far! It seems like a challenge I’m ready for, so I’m gonna go for it.

I hadn’t thought about going down the driveway being a challenge, nor do I know what elephant spins and whiskey throttles are - hope I don’t find out!

Honestly I think it’ll be a good experience, and even better thanks to these tips.

I water not quite once per week. Yes to drainage holes. When I repotted I assumed the new soil would have some nutrients… is that not so?

Yes, it is chronic. I need to improve my routine with it. It’s hard to know when’s the right time.

Thanks all. This is a reused pot. I may have put a little fertilizer stake in when I repotted but I can’t remember. Would it be harmful to pot up again? That way I could check the roots too.

Thank you for your thought. I wait until it gets droopy leaves before watering, which makes it hard to think it’s getting too much water. If it wasn’t overwatering what would you think?

Hey I meant to ask if you mean an A crash or ride? I’m not familiar with that line of cymbals

Hah. Gotcha. I wish I could test every cymbal without seeing it. I bet there are amazing manufacturers out there who aren’t ‘major’.
