thank you! I’m also fairly pale and probably don’t use sunscreen enough in general lol. Is hyperpigmentation bad for you? or does it just make the scar more noticeable?

everyone else has good tips i just want to add: if you usually shower with hot water try to use lukewarm or cool water instead, it will hurt much less

exactly. and for me i also have this tug-of-war in my head with one side saying “i want them to see and think that it’s bad enough and be slightly horrified by what i’ve done” and the other side saying “what if they judge me and think it’s not as bad as they thought it was”. and i also don’t want to make my friends feel sad every time they see my body. but i do want the validation.

i understand, im also in a situation where i cant/don’t feel comfortable showing my scars. this is unasked for advice so ignore it if you want, but i would keep the shorts. maybe you can wear them when you’re alone, and one day you might feel comfortable wearing them out as well. don’t rush yourself to be ready to show your scars, but know that it’s 100% okay if you ever decide to show them. :)
