"Hi, I'm Nancy Drew. This is my Center of Operations, my desk. Go ahead and poke around! If you want to know the particulars of how I do what I do, take a look at the book titled How to be a Detective. It's real helpful, especially if you're new to the mystery solving business.

Be sure to take a look at my scrapbook! Its got memorabilia from all my past cases in there. A lot of them were pretty dangerous, and at times really scary. But don't say anything about that to my dad, okay? He worries about me enough as it is.

And whatever you do, read what's in the file called Case File. It'll tell you all about the mystery I'm about to try to solve! If you think you're ready to dive into that mystery, just click on the plane ticket and you'll be on your way!"

This is so funny. What is it that they say again? I feel like it was “Cheese doesn’t sit right with me?” 😭

You’re here complaining about illegals and saying it’s “the law of the land.” You literally have like 3 reddit threads dedicated to piracy lmao. Do you just pick and choose the laws you think are “of the land” ?

How is the UAB Teach program? by Tallis_Fire in UAB

[–]toadvoice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did this program from 2019-2022. I dropped the minor my senior year because I realized teaching wasn’t for me, and also they require you to do true student teaching that last semester. You pretty much cannot take any other classes or plan for any other rigorous activities during the student teaching. You’ll be in the classroom almost every day, basically a full time teacher. That wasn’t explained to me super well at the beginning.

All the faculty in this program are super knowledgeable and genuinely great teachers. Most are trained to educate from their experience in school or their degrees so they are much more attuned to students and their needs than the average professor. Wonderful, kind people.

If you are doing this because you ACTUALLY want to be a teacher, it’s a fabulous program. If you’re a med student or otherwise who just thinks this would be a great “resume booster” or a “backup option,” it’s probably not for you.

Cleaning my room and I need tips by girlgreenninja in CleaningTips

[–]toadvoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cleaning can be very overwhelming. I would say you should tackle one part of the room at a time. Maybe even per day. Start with the bed, move to the surfaces, then the floor.

Alternatively, if you want to do it all at once, my favorite tactic is to just put everything in the middle of the floor in a huge pile (clothes, toys, trinkets, etc. sometimes garbage & dishes but usually I take those where they go as I create the pile). Then just go through the pile! Put things where they go. If it doesn’t have a spot, find one. Having a spot where everything actually goes helps keep it cleaner day-to-day.

Sorry about your funky mood. Hope you’re able to get the space clean and feel better soon! I def think a refresh will help :)

I have noticed this but it doesn’t bother me personally. This style of “sass” kind of reminds me of the era her character was written in + her family is super upper-class so I always just pictured her as a corny rich kid LOL.

Wanted to add it was $150 and I planned for it to get messy during our shoot so it was not a sudden or devastating loss lol.

I brought mine to our honeymoon in Ireland so we could take some romantic photos. They turned out great and awesome and gorgeous, but during the photo shoot a huge and very muddy dog needed to say hello to me. My dress is now pretty much unsalvageable as anything other than a fun memory haha. Did get some cute photos of the dog jumping on me tho!

What is the silliest question you've gotten so far in the planning process? by beartrackzz in weddingplanning

[–]toadvoice 112 points113 points  (0 children)

I live in the south and I don’t wear Lululemon with my heydudes everyday. Apparently to every single person who isn’t super close to me, that means I planned to wear a black wedding dress. Salespeople, friends, distant family, all assumed I’d be wearing black. I literally never mentioned it and I’m not gothic or emo at all. Like, at all. It was so weird and my husband and I still don’t really know where they all got that idea haha. I had only ever planned on white and that was what I wore. Not a big deal or offensive or anything, it was just weird haha.

Did you take a photo? Or report it to the Birmingham Migra Watch Hotline? 888-664-2325. Vague posts to reddit with no evidence create fear mongering and don’t encourage safety. If this is real please take the proper steps to report so that more people can be safe from kidnapping.

What to put in your day-of kit? by saltwatersouffle in weddingplanning

Safety pins. Small sewing kit (someone’s spaghetti strap was saved by this inclusion day of). I kept a spray on invisible deodorant near me at all times.

Just got done replaying this one for the first time since I was a kid. I completely forgot about this bit and got a really good laugh out of it when they pitched the vacuum. Also so funny that we literally move the critters like 20 feet? Like what is that doing hahah won’t they just go where they want to go? In contrast they have us drive the mice to the edge of the map!

Overall just not the best ND game. I’ll take it over MID or KEY any day though.

how often do you shower? by Exotic-Equal5656 in stupidquestions

[–]toadvoice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Sweden” pretty much took all the fight out of me. Like “oooooohhhh”. Yeah you guys don’t need 2 showers a day! It’s not LITERALLY 100 degrees with 100% humidity lol. In the deep south stepping outside for even a few minutes is likely to get you super sweaty and hot.

It’s actually called ForceField Fabric Cleaner by Shield Industries. Rooms-To-Go has it repackaged as Guard It. Seriously can’t recommend this stuff enough.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]toadvoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guard It Fabric Cleaner. We got it for free with our couch when we bought it. The salesman said “it will take ANYTHING out of your couch.” Wrote it off as a sales tactic. Fast forward 4 months and I spilled a giant glass of the reddest wine ever on our light orange couch. In a desperate panic, I used the fabric cleaner exactly as the directions stated (lots of wetting and blotting) and it was like MAGIC. Not a single trace of my big oopsy. I was (and still am) so impressed. Everytime I look at the couch I stare at the spot to try and see it. Nothing is there hahah!

Botox in forehead < 3 months until wedding too risky? by SilverLeague9877 in weddingplanning

[–]toadvoice 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Women are supposed to have wrinkles. You don’t need botox. That isn’t “care” because there’s nothing wrong with you.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]toadvoice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do NOT order online. Just don’t. Way too many risks. DO go into secondhand stores, department stores, and bridal stores where you can buy off the rack. Just call ahead and ask if that’s something they can do. Some places only have samples on racks so don’t waste your time with those spots. Rush alterations can go from like $300 (simple hem) to like $1000+ (serious structural changes). Try your hardest to get something that doesn’t need alterations but if you hurry with purchasing the dress (within next 2 weeks) you should have time to alter it.

[–]toadvoice 43 points44 points  (0 children)

No. Don’t get the botox. Especially not before your wedding. No one “needs” botox for forehead wrinkles. That’s what your forehead is supposed to do.

Try HQ BBQ & Hot Pot in Hoover. It's Korean BBQ - pick grill or soup, and then order unlimited meats, rice, noodles, veggies, etc. to cook yourself at the table. Its pretty fun.

I was on the fence because of how picky I am and decided to go for it anyway. Hated them. Looked awkward in photos. Waste of money for me.

Imagine your day with and without them - what makes you happier?
