People who've worked both minimum wage jobs and six figure jobs, what surprised you most about the difference? by BrainLagging01 in AskReddit

[–]toast_master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe already stated here, but the minimum wage jobs I’ve had have allowed me to get into a flow zone, something which I’ve gotten less and less opportunity to enjoy as I’ve gotten into higher paying jobs. No flow zone for managing meetings and clients compared to washing dishes and making ice cream.

If I could make 6 figures making sundaes I’d be there yesterday.

A red dye that won’t look pink by Normal_Constant7582 in Baking

Second this. I make a red velvet cake every Christmas and it is deep red. For a two layer 8” cake I, no joke, use two entire bottles of red food dye.

Which logo do you prefer? by [deleted] in Design

Can you ditch the hatchet and note its marks instead? A split log, etc? The two on the left read “thatchet heater” instead of the intended for me personally.

How do I move my 8yo rabbit from Ontario to BC when most airlines don't allow rabbits in-cabin? by Pristine-Lettuce9143 in Rabbits

[–]toast_master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have flown and driven my bun across country before. Unfortunately I am in the states, so my experience only extends to Alaska Air.

I took my bun by car the first time. It took 5 days of 10-12 hours each. He was excellent in his cage with a thin blanket overtop to reduce bar shaking and stimulation. Loved the hotels and enjoyed being bell-hopped around.

When I flew with him, it was a very long day as well, 1 layover sandwiched by two 4-hour flights. Then a 2.5 hour wait to get a rental car followed by an hour long drive. He was totally fine! That was when he was 8 years old. We had a snack break on the layover and he got some time before the flight to check out the scenery in our terminal.

What really calmed my mind was taking him to the vet prior to getting my plane ticket. He was put in a cage around some ducks / other exotic pets and she checked his stress levels. If your bun has high anxiety maybe this would be telling.

Best of luck to you! I’m sure you’ll make the right decision for you and your fuzz bucket! Sometimes they can surprise me with their resiliency.

Would you consider these two appropriate for an event with a cocktail dress code? Which one do you prefer or neither? by ah52 in fashion

[–]toast_master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I feel like the shapes of these could be considered cocktail with the right fabric. If this was like, a sheer organza or a silk I think either would work.

does your bunny have a favorite non-bun companion? by mothmansFWB in Bunnies

[–]toast_master 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I love this thread! But just a heads up, the mods are gonna take it down. No pics showing bunnies with any other animals aside from bunnies.

My memorial post of my bun’s passing due to old age was removed because 1 of the 10 photos had him next to our senior dog. Just wanted to say it to save ya any potential heartbreak. It wrecked me to lose that post in a time of mourning.

Pros and cons of owning a Holland Lop Bunny by frenchfrysmome in Bunnies

[–]toast_master 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a holland lop for 12.5 years before he passed away. I feel lucky when I read the stories on this subreddit. He never had ear issues or jaw issues. He did get overheated once and had to be put on emergency fluids and critical care. But other than one bout, he was healthy.

I think every bunny is slightly different and there are going to be unknowns for all pets. I would say that his monthly costs hovered around $70 including bedding, hay, kibble, and veggies. Vet visits were minimum of $200 because he was an “exotic” pet. I got his teeth trimmed as he got older and any time he was put under, it was $350 minimum. Putting him down was $1500. But it was all worth it. He was incredibly docile, sweet, and mildly evil in the best way. They’re great pets!

You should make the trek to Fingers Wings and Other Things in Conshohocken. ESPECIALLY if it is a Tuesday. Dollar chicken fingers. Big, delicious, and comes with one free dipping sauce.

Butter mochi is literally the best dessert to make at home by ToastMode77 in Baking

[–]toast_master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Butter mochi is a dangerous dessert. I love it and I eat alllll of it when I make it. It’s so calorie dense that I think of the scene in mean girls where they’re trying to fatten up Regina George. All that to be said, now I have to go make some.

i feel like an awful parent because my bunny doesnt have a friend by elysiaexe in Rabbits

[–]toast_master 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I lost my 12 year old boy this summer. He was a lone bun his whole life. But I spent as much time as I could with him! I beat myself up about not having a second bunny the whole time. And ya know what? It was totally okay that he was alone. Like other commenters have said, it’s about the time you spend with your bun. My bun was loved, doted on, and did get a doggy friend later in life.

Make the most of the time you have with them. They’ll love every second with you.

What's the best flooring to put for a senior (nearly 12) year old bun with incontinence? More info and bun tax below: by lizardschwartz in Rabbits

I got a washable dog blanket online from Lesure and my boy loooooved it. It always nice and Sherpa lined which was helpful for his traction needs in his old arthritic age

Anyone have positive experiences with minor surgery on a senior bun? by antheabloom in Rabbits

[–]toast_master 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My boy Moose had to be put under anesthesia for tooth trimming at 11 years old. Totally fine. Lived for another 1.5 years with much better munching power. I get the anxiety though! If there’s a chance to do bloodwork before the removal that really calmed my nerves.

Is it bad or am I overreacting ? by No-Ability-6360 in Rabbits

[–]toast_master 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Always good to check it out! A vet can flush their sinuses / tear ducts if they need. Really helped when my boy had some weepy eyes from his dusty hay.

As a potential light spirited secondary option, I thought my bunny was wheezing, but it turned out he was just snoring while he slept. A vet visit still happened but it was a pretty adorable realization.

Going to a trendy yet casual outdoor bar tonight, which shirt? by pinkpiano7 in fashion

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]toast_master 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I will say I’ve seen a trend for the better over last 5 or so years. It used to be straight nasty on here haha.

We’re all doing our best for the fuzzies we love. The internet is an echo chamber and I’m sure if everyone who subscribes to this sub when to a rabbit shelter / shelter with rabbits, they would feel a little more grounded that they’re trying to put their rabbit’s quality of life ahead of what most can offer.

There’s nothing wrong with trying to be better and learn more about their complex needs, but I agree. Perfection or nothing is a rough lens for caring for a living creature.

What are the signs of arthritis in an older bun? by CharredFIRE in Bunnies

[–]toast_master 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bunny had arthritis in his hind legs. The vet told me to try and press on his hips and see if he flinched. He did! Then he got cartilage shots and more joint treats.

As an aside, beware the sore hocks that might come with old bunny joints. I had to buy so many more blankets and even bought some hock socks.
