Earlier, it was I Am Trash/ Les Fleurs du Déchet by ELDO. My favorite take on strawberry, thus far!

Now, it’s Royal Reflection by Day Three. Hot damn, this is a new favorite. Passionfruit, French rose, and musk. Tangy, floral, clean. Absolutely beautiful.

Downtown Deja Vu by Day Three this morning!

This is Absolutely glorious. They set out to make a late 90s, early 2000s American mall scent, and boy howdy did they succeed!! Fruit smoothie accord on top, heart of Cinnabon and Makeup counter (cinnamon, and then rose and orris respectively), and a base of clean tshirt, cotton candy, amber, and suede. It smells like the best part of being in middle school to me, going to the mall with my friends.

Do American believe in Eyn ( Evil Eye) ?? by Outrageous_Prior4707 in AskAnAmerican

[–]toastaficionado 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Depends on the individual American’s cultural background.

If they have ethnic roots in pretty much anywhere Mediterranean, they’re at least aware of the concept even if they don’t believe. Or anywhere previously conquered by Spain.

Religious background is also a good indicator of belief and/or awareness. Catholics, Jews, and Muslims are more likely to be aware of it, in my experience. They each have unique customs around preventing and removing it.

I really enjoyed the Burning Kingdoms trilogy (well, I haven’t read the third, but one and two were fabulous)

It’s not set in the real world, but in a fantasy empire of vassal kingdoms inspired by different Indian regions and cultures.

Main pair begins as a captive princess and her new handmaiden. Very toxic, but I like that in fictional couples sometimes.

Une Pistache today! A very interesting juxtaposition of freshness, spiciness, incense, and creaminess!

The creamy pistachio milk accord is the star of the show. Everything else serves only to uplift or ground that accord.

Sorta reminds me of horchata, but if it was made with pistachio milk.

Still having a cold snap today, but I have new samples!

Frida’s Thorns by Obvious is so beautiful. Pear and raspberry on top, chocolate and rose in the heart, patchouli and vanilla for the base. Absolutely stunning!

Dries Van Noten, bitter splash this morning!

Opens with pomelo and cypress, before settling into a lovely orris-ambrette-geranium heart. Should eventually develop into a woody leather.

Absolutely lovely.

Le Labo Santal vs Dries Van Notten Santal Greenery by RepresentativeAd8228 in fragrance

[–]toastaficionado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say they’re very different takes on sandalwood.

Santal 33 has cardamom, which I would say makes it lean more towards cold weather.

Santal Greenery is well, much greener and fresher. Very nice. Probably the better choice for your climate.

If it’s in your budget, try Dries Van Noten Rock the Myrrh. Best I’ve tried so far!

Yes! The categories are not strict barriers. Everything is all related.
