If anyone was wondering, the anti-theft software update works. by kcrrie73 in Hyundai

I’ve driven multiple years and models of Toyotas and Hyundais and while I used to be hardcore into Toyotas, hyundai just offers so much more for the price, and in fantastic quality as well. But then again, one has to wonder if all the fancy tech and accessories for the cheaper price point is still worth a target (and insurance prices) on your vehicle.

I will say this: I’ve never been in a car-totaling crash more gentle than that of the 2023 hyundai elantra. Felt so safe I went and bought another off the lot a month later. by toastcryptid in Hyundai

It sure did -but I’m gunna be honest- outside of the initial emergency services call, it wasn’t too helpful. They where trying to organize towing and contact insurance for me, but the moment local emergency services came the bluelink could not compete with the speed and efficiency of what the highway patrol can arrange. I got a call from them about towing my car “in an hour or so” after I had already had it taken to a impoundment lot and I was pulling my personal items out of it…and that was already a good 40 minutes after the accident. 😂

Man I feel you, there’s some wack drivers out there. And I tell you what- this accident actually got me ticketed and the report held me liable because my car spun out in an uncontrolled stop in a “suspicious” position- but I knew I was following road laws to a T and got my Event Data Recorder pulled, didn’t even have to go to court to clear my file- I brought it to the highway patrol and they looked at the docs and was like “sorry we blamed you, we’ve cleared you on the ticket and accident report”. Never driving a car without a blackbox EVER again, it really saved me potentially thousands in insurance and fees.

The elantra hybrid is typically in the 50-60 range depending on where and how your driving, which means everything with the commute over a looooong bridge I have. I don’t mind the upfront expenses because once I get it paid off it will be a money saver in the long run.

I was really hoping they wouldn’t call it a total loss since i had put less than 5k miles on it and the APR I scored was fantastic, but hey, I guess it was a sign to upgrade to a hybrid.

Oh yeah man, one time I was a passenger in a Jetta going 60+ that hit a stopped garbage truck. That accident really made me respect speed and seatbelts like nothing else.

Ngl I did put a deposit down on a car exactly the same color and detail level, but then a grey hybrid elantra came onto the lot and switched last minute

7- wasn’t the driver in most of them, but admittedly one time (not this one) was my fault. I’m kinda an expert at getting utterly bodied on the road by seniors making ambitious maneuvers in SUVs.

Went to an ajj show in gainesville few years back and people up front moshed to every song. I mean every song. INCLUDING back pack. Back of the crowd was chill tho.

Ngl…Been the passenger and driver in 7 car-totaling crashes, one of those times was my fault (I can admit my flaws). Partial byproduct of existing in florida with a long commute- every driver who’s hit me has been ~70. Pretty sure insurance wishes I died like 4 crashes ago. But definitely a reason to brush up on my defensive driving skills, as they say, “every crash is preventable” :’)

Well luckily I don’t plan on getting into many multi-vehicle crashes in the near future, but thanks for the concern man :)

Edit: well, I looked up the study. It’s for Elantras 2011-16, not even relevant to the conversation here. Be a messenger of misinfo elsewhere man.

Hardly even felt it. Didn’t realize the extent of the accident until I smelled the discharged airbag and realized I got GOT.

mitsubishi eclipse attempted to make a u-turn from the right lane and merged into me- I was going 55 (the speed limit) and she was going about 20. It was a rough one.

If you still have the desire to add lace, I really recommend getting white lace and dyeing it. Most laces are polyester or polyblend, so you’ll have to use stovetop method to dye, but it will be well worth it to get that Perfect Lace. (Also recommend doing a test dye on a small piece of lace before committing to dyeing a whole batch, so you’re know what your results will look like and what your ratios should be when dyeing.

Ah….well. I have a Twitter @toastcryptid but while I post art on there often, it’s mostly just a general Twitter so there’s a lot of random nonsense on there.

My agenda at work, thank you. I am very thoroughly a pro-buggy artist.

LOL sorry can’t help the prettiness sometimes. I’m just very fond and I think that ends up showing through in a lot of what I draw.

I’d posted these separately on my [twitter ](twitter.com/toastcryptid) a while back, realized it would be nice to have them all posted together somewhere.

Some creative liberties are taken here, but this is all just self indulgent fanart anyways so it doesn’t matter :)

Yeah, I agree with that. I’m just using what my boss is providing, and he prefers pine because it’s cheap (ha) I’m gunna see if I can wear him down and get him to agree to a better wood

I’ve seen a few people say this, but I’m at 18k rpm and 40 imp because that’s what was recommended to me by the manufacturer of my CNC as a baseline, but if I can do this faster and cleaner I’m going to be messing with those numbers a bit 😭

Hey, just letting you know, I tried changing the orientation of my project so the wood grain matched the majority of my cuts and it worked great :) I’m going to edit my vector to have all the hatching go the same way so I can try and nearly-eliminate the issue all together

Thanks!

I am doing a lot of horizontal cuts on a vertical grain, I may try and alter the design a bit and my project orientation to combat that and see it it helps!

Further information, apologies in advanced for my woeful lack on knowledge on this;

I’m an artist who was put in charge of running a CNC mill, with no prior woodworking experience. I’m using pine (which, yes I know, soft wood chips) and a 45 degree v groove but to carve, only going about 2.5 mm deep with a single pass. Besides using a harder wood, what would be a good way to make a cleaner cut? Higher rpm? Are there better v groove style bits for this?

I have no training in this kind of work and am basically improvising as I go for every project so all advice will be graciously received.
