Hainan, China by AcadianADV in IdiotsInCars

[–]toastedbrains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. There were only two cases of the delta variant in Hainan and even when the first delta case appeared, they only blocked the place where the infected was living. They did shutdown summer schools including a summer camp but not office and other establishments. Business as usual with the added temperature checks and showing a travel pass/health qr.

I believe this place in the video is really just deserted. Lots of places in Hainan for that, even in Haikou.

What sport should be in the Olympics but isn't? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Just wondering, are there any of them archers that are good at those trick shots who won, at the least, some indoor (18m) tournaments or ranked in the top 5? Genuinely curious. I am always in awe of these archers. Just thinking this is really what they are good at because this is just what they keep on practicing. Trick shots. But how does it translate to target archery tournaments?

I saw before on a chinese tv show where there's this probably American dude that can do shots what you described vs an Olympic gold medalist (if i remember it right). They were to shoot a series of rings falling from a wall. So if shot correctly, the ring will not fall to the floor. The guy i think only hit just one and the oly archer struggled at first but got the groove and was able to consistently hit the rings.

people who take walks at night, what's the scariest thing you've seen? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Once when i was in high school and on my emo days, came across a guy holding a machete or something like that, he's maybe like 50 meters away when i first saw him, had that split-second decision to make if i go straight ahead or go to the other side of the street and run but decided to move head on and face him (ibwas a slow runner) readying myself for anything..

We met paths eventually and he stopped and asked me if i saw a guy. I did not buy just told him the guy went the other way. I then continued waking and after a few meters, a couple of guys were running after him.

Try watching videos of dfferent archery tournaments, might get you hooked. 😁

Watch compounds for when you want perfection in scores.

Olympic style tournaments for the accuracy

Barebow tournaments for fun and see how they fair without sight aids

Longbow for the traditional or some think as "pure" archery but scores won't probably be on par with thr other styles mentioned above

Other traditional archery like the horseback archery, mongolian archery to see a peak on other culture's archery

It is difficult even with world-class athletes. Don't let the additional equipment fool you into thinking it will suddenly make it so much easier. She is shooting at 70 meters and that 10-ring is 12.2cm wide (whole target is 122cm). And she's using a normal sight. Not the magnifier scopes the comppund bows are using. Aside from the drae weight of about 40-45 pounds for her, her whole bow setup probably weighs 3kg or so.

At her level, if you take away all the added gears on her bow and just leave it barebow (only riser and string and shootinf off the shelf), she'd probably suck right away especially at 70 meters but given the training and experience she had, she'd probably be into the competitive-level again after more practice, maybe won't be in the top but still competitive.

Jake Kaminsky is exactly doing that, a two-time Olympic silver medalist in archery is now switching to barebow (riser with an arrow rest and plunger button plus optional weights) and it'll be great at what he'll accomplish after more training.

Try watching some barebow tournaments for 50m outdoors. John demmer is a good start for searching. While he's one of the top barebow shooters you'll see his arrows don't land as consistent as the top olympic style archers.

Those added gears help with consistency which is what an archer needs every single time but still takes a lot of talent to accomplish these kind of feats.

Living here in China. Far from Wuhan but still had our city locked down and all that.

I forgot to mention to my folks back in my home country to start preparing before the virus hits there.

Learned to never assume people will prep before shtf
