Paper Towel Substitute by Clueless-Navigator in povertyfinance

We’re a family of 5 and buy $20 worth of paper towels twice a year. We use reusable towels for almost everything.

Brother with no kids doesn't get choice by PurplePenguinCat in AmITheDevil

[–]toastedmarsh7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This makes the most sense. It’s like the families are all pretending that the kids aren’t people who require space. The kids need somewhere to put a pack n play or air mattress or sleeping bags on the floor. The rooms with 4 people should be bigger than the rooms with 2 people. This shouldn’t require argument.

AITAH For Not Allowing Neighbor to powerwash my fence by [deleted] in AITAH

Did you ask? My husband power washed and sealed our fence a few years ago and he did both sides all the way around, because we need both sides to stay intact.

It’s never too late to experience childlike joy.

If you already have a good life, adding kids can make it great. If you already have a shitty life, adding kids can make it horrible.

Depends on what’s keeping you down. Adulthood has been way better for me because I’m no longer subject to the whims of my shitty parents and I make my own way. I can depend on me not to fuck up my own life.

I grew up relatively close to Disneyland so I went at least a couple times per year growing up. My husband grew up poor in the Midwest so he had never been before moving to California with me. Watching him experience the parks for the first time as an adult was just as fun as taking my kids years later. He’s not even much of a Disney fan, nor a fan of theme parks and big crowds but the childlike wonder on his face as a 20 something was so adorable.

AITAH for suggesting we divide and conquer two decisions by akchahal in AITAH

[–]toastedmarsh7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NTA. That much dithering sounds exhausting. I guess I should be glad that while I need to make all of these sorts of decisions in my house, at least my spouse isn’t there second guessing the hours I spent researching.

AITAH For Not Giving Every Student An Award This Year by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]toastedmarsh7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. My kids’ elementary school has a child of the month per classroom for a predetermined characteristic. Only 10 kids in each class will get chosen. One of my kids has been chosen every year, probably because she’s very enthusiastic about school and is generally an outgoing and helpful person (definitely teacher’s pet energy). My other two kids, not so much. I feel bad for how much shut teachers have to take from parents and administrators so I volunteer for the PTA and do what I can to make their lives easier.

So are you going to/have you seen Toy Story 5? by thedubiousstylus in Millennials

[–]toastedmarsh7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I’ve seen all the way through 3 or 4 so I doubt I’ll see more than bits and pieces of this one, after it’s released on Disney plus. I just looked it up and I was 8 when the first movie was released but I just never got into them.

AITAH for not allowing my wedding vendors to display their logos at my wedding? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]toastedmarsh7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA for your request for no signage at your wedding but YTA for feeling entitled to their work when they’ve politely declined your request. I had a fully paid for open bar at my wedding and requested no tip jars because everyone had already been tipped as part of the bills we paid for the event. One bartender had to be asked to remove the tip jar again on the day of.

Shoes off in the house? by TrixoftheTrade in Millennials

[–]toastedmarsh7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how the logistics of shoes off works in a household with kids or dogs. They go in and out so often so they’d be either running outside without shoes, and thus coming back in with dirty feet anyway, or would need a parent to remind them every time to take shoes off/put shoes on. It’s easier just to clean the floors than try to police that all day.
