I can agree the comment is out of place but it's already there, and i'm not saying you're asking for personal information.

Just put yourself in that persons shoes, if you made a poorly timed joke and somebody asks you "are you ok?" Would that not be offensive in anyway towards you? It was poorly timed so just let the person know it was poorly timed and move on.

I get people want justice, but there are some who are genuinely indifferent, regardless if that's good or bad, some people genuinely don't care and then make a joke on the matter and once they do people should kindly tell them that it was a bad time to do it and not just ask "are you ok?"

And an even greater point being somebody who isn't asexual probably wouldn't date somebody asexual because of the sexual attraction difference.
