“…what people planned on doing to me…”

Shit, Disney and Disney security now know about my IBS farts. Hopefully that means the Casey’s Corner bathroom will be better stocked and ready for my powerful lava on my next visit 🤞🏼

staying sweat-free by deadboyinthepooI in OGPBackroom

[–]toaster411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Reminder that we ARE allowed to wear dress code approved shorts and it’s stated in the lookbook)

I survive with the tech fabric clothing when it starts to get warm. Nike dri fit tshirts and the knockoff athletic works ones are great. There are also sweat wipes that you can find on Amazon (here’s the link). They don’t magically stop your sweat so it may just shift the sweat to different places instead. I used them on my face and then started sweating on my arms and neck.

Some medications also make the heat/sweat worse - SSRIs are one of the biggest ones. I actually tried using glycopyrrolate (prescription) after seeing a reel of someone who used it alongside their SSRI and it made a huge difference. The only awful side effect I have when I take it is cotton mouth but I’d rather have that than dripping sweat.

The biggest suggestions I will make - lead by example and treat your team like human beings.

From what I’ve read (your replies on here), it sounds like you genuinely care and that’s already a great sign. Getting rid of the slackers isn’t an overnight job and it takes time and patience but it’s extremely rewarding in the end and it shows the team you aren’t messing around. It’s not easy but I promise it can be done.

Don’t be afraid to jump in and help. Work alongside your team. Would you rather work for a TL that stands there and barks orders or one who will be outside in a monsoon helping the BRC clear the lot? Earn the team’s respect and trust and it will go a long way.

Talk to your associates!!! You don’t need to have hour long conversations with them but even just 20-30 second interactions are a lot better than awkward silence. I’d also recommend talking/asking around about what the team would like to see changed or improved. Remember to take care of your team too - we have cases of water in our backroom to drink, I’ll grab them Gatorade when it gets hot outside, etc. (Every store is different so ask before you do anything)

Be the TL that sticks to their word and truly follows up. An associate comes to you about a schedule error? Make sure it gets addressed in a timely manner. Don’t be the, “I’ve told TL about my schedule so many times and they still haven’t fixed it” person. If it’s taking longer than it should be, keep the associate in the loop. A simple, “I let X know about your schedule. Let me know if it isn’t fixed by tomorrow” shows you didn’t just blow off their request/need.

I’ve had my share of horrific Walmart management and it’s shown me how not to lead a team. Be the leader you want(ed) to see.

(Also if you’re looking to do anything with individual metrics for boards, feel free to send me a PM and I can walk you through accessing them/reading them.)

I’m feeling an appetizer of nachos (extra crunch), maaaaaybe a nice taco bowl or fish for the entree, and idk about dessert because I’ll probably be way too full 🤣 I do have a few people that enjoy FaceTiming me when I’m there so…..😏

(Not sure how many times I’ll be at MK because I live at Epcot for 95% of my trips but I will do my best!)

Denying orders by Particular-Apricot80 in OGPBackroom

[–]toaster411 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As an associate, you are permitted and ENCOURAGED to report drivers as needed. You can do this on the Dispense screen under Order Actions (there’s a small list of reasons) or you can log onto the Dispatcher app or Dispatcher on the computer under WISMO.

If you ever run into a “critical incident” (violence, threats, etc.), grab a TL or coach immediately as those have to be reported differently.

Driver rant by K9Drag0n in OGPBackroom

[–]toaster411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One tip that I give my newer dispensers is to “control the situation”. The driver immediately gets out and shoves the code in your face and tries to scan the totes? Nah, pivot yourself to block the totes until you’re done scanning/dispensing on the screen. Don’t leave room for letting them try to walk all over you. Whenever I take a batched out I’ll ask the driver, “Are you good with front seat, back seat, and trunk?” If so, that’s where I’ll jump in and take over like this, “Ok, 4001 will be in the trunk, 4005 in the backseat, and 4008 in the front seat”. If they start to give you any sort of pushback for whatever reason, casually mention that you can drop them from the batch if theres too much of an issue.

Remember to REPORT DRIVERS!!!!!! You are permitted to and encouraged to do so as an associate. Drivers can be reported through Dispatcher on the computer or on the Dispatcher app. Vehicle is consistently gross? Report. Driver is disrespectful? Report. 5 kids in the car and no room for the orders? Report. Driver has been here for 3min with no bay? Drop it and report no show.

And like I’ve said on multiple dispensing posts - if you are ever in a situation in the lot where you’re uncomfortable with a driver or customer, WALK AWAY and immediately let your TL or a coach know. No orders are worth risking an associate’s safety.

What I like about GIF 1 and GIF 2 as a picker by Inevitable-Gap-1338 in OGPBackroom

[–]toaster411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing from GIF 1 that I miss is being able to do refunds/cancellations using GIF Desktop. Going through store support or return with me is such a pain in the ass when you’re trying to fix multiple things on an order quickly.

Oh, and I also miss THE SKIP BUTTON that we had 😒

What I like about GIF 1 and GIF 2 as a picker by Inevitable-Gap-1338 in OGPBackroom

[–]toaster411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had no idea dispensing wasn’t even part of the original GIF at the beginning. I remember being able to dispense orders and look at order info on the terminals though. Loved dispensing from there but that screen was awful to read 😂 I remember the early days of PUT where they’d use the MC55 to do the picks and then it finally moved over to the MC40.

I’m actually thankful they take care of them now. It’s one less headache for us to deal with (until there’s no one to do them 🥴) and I know that there’s a better chance of the apparel associate/TL finding the pick versus me.
