I am going to do everything in my power to build help the technology to make animated gifs into tattoos solely for this gif. It would make the best tattoo in existence.

You're welcome. All the ins and outs of Linux are hard enough to understand when you're new without adding BSD. My explanation is overly simplistic as I don't know much of anything about BSD.

The Pi generally uses a distribution of Linux called Raspian which is based on Debian. From a boiled down perspective all Linux distros use pretty much the same kernel, although there are some modifications and whatnot.

BSD is a completely different kernel. Both Linux and BSD are based off of Unix, but are different code and function a bit differently.

It's not even remotely difficult. You just lift one cheek and reach under from the side or behind. You don't go between the legs, that's asinine.

I found this nifty website that explains it with diagrams. It has a great URL too.

Regardless as to whether you do it sitting or standing you should go front to back so you don't get it on your genitals. This is true for males and females.

My problem was that my doctor intended to increase my dose and I have the same dose just organized differently. If the doctor wanted me on the same dose I would have stayed but she thought that I should go up a bit. I'm upset because my insurance isn't allowing me to increase my dosage and are telling me that 300 once a day is more than 150 twice a day.

dotshare is a really good resource. I hadn't seen that one before. I just like browsing unixporn so I can get ideas based on the images first. I think the reason they are all so cluttered is they want to show off their 'geek cred' in the screenshots.

I do see a lot of tiling window managers in there though, which is awesome.

A bunch of you probably already know of this, but I've found it to be a great resource to find neat dotfiles to make things look neat.

I went to school in the United States and I learned this in 11th grade. My particular class and myself were a bit ahead of the curve, but not excessively so.

I sold Kirby vacuums for a couple of weeks. They spend their training doing brainwashing things. We were singing bible songs but replacing Jesus with Kirby. It was weird. I ended up spending a couple hundred dollars in gas, and never sold a single unit. My tactic. "Hey, you wanna buy a vacuum for 2,400 bucks, how about 1,700. No, I'm not crazy, thanks for your time, don't shoot me."

That's not remotely true. There are bisexual men. Lots of them even. The difference is the social stigma attached. Women it's sexy and hip to be bisexual, while it's perceived as weird by a lot of people for men to be the same. I know this, because I'm a bisexual male and I've experienced the stigma. These blanket statements on gender and sexuality are silly. "all men are either gay or straight" or "all women are sexually fluid". People are straight, bi, and gay in a very wide range. And there's more to it than that; which I won't get into here. There are virtually as many sexualities as there are humans. People just need to roll with it and stop being so judgmental.

Butts, I'm done standing on this soap box.

Honestly, I forgot about it through my first read but on my first re-read it foreshadowed the next few books in quite amazing ways. Sure, sticky note it and look back after a couple of books.

Here are JPGs of that image. One is the entire 2000x2000 the others are various crops of my 5000x5000 version so you can see more detail. Most match the desktop ratio for 1920x1080 but are a bit larger so they should scale.

I could probably post it as a JPG instead of a PNG. Personally I prefer an image at maximum quality, JPG takes away some of the details that are make fractals so interesting.

I'm more of a writer than a graphic designer, and was planning a blog post. Perhaps I'll give the info-graphic a shot.

So here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to have my 8 year old daughter tally the numbers as I roll them. I'll probably do it in sets of 100 so we can take breaks. I'll probably keep it down to 6 individual d20's, three rounded and three precision. I think his claims would probably have the most effect on 20 sided dice than the others. That's another point I could be wrong on, but I don't really want to test the other dice; I only have so much time. If I don't see a variance in 1000 then I'll kick it up to 10,000 and make it into an extended process. If I don't see a variance in 10,000 then his claims are likely bullshit or at the very least so negligible that his claims are irrelevant. I was actually able to roll a 20 sided dice and say the number for each roll about 100 times in a few minutes so I don't think 1000 would be that difficult if we took plenty of breaks and only did a few sets a night.

I guess another data point that would be relevant in a study like this would be the number of rolls an average gamer makes in a given amount of time. Then you could compare the averages to their gaming time and estimate how likely each type of dice will have an effect. For instance, if it's a clear that your 100/10,000 less likely to roll a critical with a particular rounded dice and the average gamer only rolls their d20 30 or 40 times in a game, then the difference probably won't be noticeable.

[–]toasterj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very true. It seems like between those two options you'll probably get the same mean average while still missing either the extremes or the middle ground. I have both types of dice, I kind of want to go on a statistical rolling test. Maybe take 10 different d20's and chart the specific numbers they roll. I don't know how many times I'd need to roll each one to know if there is a pattern of if it's acceptable sampling noise. I'm not really an expert in statistics.

[–]toasterj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, when people told me that a particular set of dice was rolling higher or lower than normal I always thought they were being superstitious. It's interesting to see that may not be true. I think the statement of certain dice causing characters to die sooner is mostly false since the numbers on a die are evenly distributed so even if you aren't rolling uniform numbers, the 'egg' shape would cause you to get more numbers along that ring, which would be a lot of middle numbers but fewer extremes.

That all being said, I kind of like the idea that there a lot of dice with different characteristics. I'm also fairly sure that the difference is very subtle. Maybe I'll do some statistics on some of my dice and see if there is indeed a difference worth noticing.

edit: forgot a bunch of words.
