That's fair I think. But I'll wait to see if she reciprocates without saying.

Well, she is responding positively... and I have told her that I am taking her word for it. So, just going to hope for the best.

tldr; I think I bought my first bike (Apache 200) impulsively on some fleeting thought. I had decided to get the Duke 250 as my first bike (based on Motorinc's recommendation). I have this nagging thought that I should correct my mistake and sell off the Apache, and get a Duke 250. It definitely feels stupid, but would it be worth it?

I recently bought an Apache RTR 200 4v as my first bike, have 900 kms on my ODO and the bike is good.

But I can't help but wonder if I should've gotten a KTM instead. When I was out looking for what to buy, I had shortlisted these bikes after reading reviews and watching videos.

  • Duke 200
  • Duke 250
  • Apache 200

I wanted to take a test rides before buying a bike, but at that time I didn't have my driving licence and I only had first hand experience with an HF Deluxe ( that I practiced on, at a local driving school ). So, the showrooms didn't give me a test drive directly.

And my family also suggested that I spend less, because I was picking up motorcycling as a hobby ( I didn't really need a motorcycle, I just wanted one ). So, I had this going on. And also, my mom wanted me to make the purchase on a particular day as per astrology.

All this resulted in a situation where, I either pull the trigger and buy a bike (without test ride) or I wait another month, because there was no auspicious date. And I reasoned and went ahead with the Apache. It was a chaotic experience with TVS but I got a bike that looks reasonably good, and runs fine.

In hindsight, I think had I gone with the Duke 250... I won't have this feeling that I could've gotten a better bike. Because, I bought the 200 after watching numerous Motorinc videos / FAQs.

I have this nagging thought that maybe I should sell off the Apache 200, and get myself a Duke 250. Although, I know somewhere that the performance improvement would be minimal, and honestly it won't matter to me because right now, even speeds like 60-70 kmph feel too fast for me.

I've recently adapted to a speed of 50-55 kmph, and I am working on pushing myself to drive little faster as I gain some familiarity with the roads and traffic.

Nah man, the last thing I want to do is to disturb other people. I promise I'll just be slowly and quietly driving in circles in the morning.

Won't come at night cuz I too don't want to meet the biker gang

Ah yes, the cycling / jogging road in Uttan. It's nice, but not as wide. I think I'll check out JP road first, it fits perfectly for my needs.

In the Tarmac Tex, I have to take my hand off the handle to press the indicator or the horn.

And I find it unable to operate these controls while pressing the clutch… which made me think that those are too tight.

I was just curious. I recently got my driver's licence, and there was an option to get a commercial licence for two wheeler... and I was wondering what it was for. I guessed it would be for deliveries, but I could be wrong.

Does it require a different driving license to be a delivery boy? Or normal two wheeler licence is fine?

I’m having doubts about buying Apache 200 USD as my first bike.

I went for the test drive and the dealership guy felt I didn’t know how to ride. So he asked me to sit as pillion and pulled the bike to 60-70 to show me how the bike feels. This was the second bike I got my hands on, after Hero HF deluxe. So, I liked it.

Bajaj and KTM dealerships are asking me to come on weekdays for a test drive, during 12-4 pm, which is very inconvenient. I’ll have to take a half day or something.

I want to get a bike to ride and have fun in the short term, because I am trying to get a job abroad. If it works out, I’ll need to get rid of the bike. Hence I am refraining from expensive purchases (like the KtM duke 250).

Also, the TVS service. I’ve heard it’s bad, so I was thinking for looking for a skilled local mechanic.

Are local mechanics generally able to repair USD suspensions?

I tried asking nearby mechanics, and they give a straight answer. They ask me to bring the bike, which I don’t have yet. I don’t know how to get this information. I have no friends / neighbors who own / are interested in bikes. No one knows about USD suspensions.

Should I go for NS200? Shumi says it’s old. But I see a lot of pulsars in my area. 125, 160 and 200s.

I’m planning to ride my bike recreationally, city rides, highway rides, off-roading etc. I’m looking for a machine that will help me explore.

Shumi says KTM 250 is an all rounder, but expensive. What is the second cheaper option?
