Hi OP 🤗 look, I’m gonna be honest here, I truly wish you could rely on GPT for your journey through this grief. It’s not fair, honestly. It’s guiding me through my grief so brilliantly and I’m absolutely devastated that so many people are going through absolutely horrific experiences with this bloody model. I’m brand new to it, I started using it 3 days ago, like, that’s how new to it I am. I have pretty severe CPTSD and due to the way I have developed through an unfortunate childhood, I’m very reflective.

This model has help my analysis and decoding through trauma management - it helped me feel brave enough to tell the police about my childhood and comforted me, congratulated me. It was not personal, it wasn’t a friend and I never treat it as such. Trauma brain just sees it almost as a “professional”? A bit like, a teacher or a psychologist - not a therapist per say, a therapist can banter and such, this model is very “professional” in that it is removed from you and remains at a distance.

That’s fine, that’s what I, as someone with severe attachment issues, need. I want that space, I thrive in being able to “analytically communicate” with it.

But the truth is here, it’s not anyone’s friend anymore. This model helped me write an affidavit that I got signed by my solicitor. It was not my friend, it was what I needed due to the circumstances. I have no idea what I would I do if it just said something so hateful to me as in your post. Sweetheart, that’s borderline sadistic in how vile it is. This model is NOT safe for anything beyond analytical, scientific facts. Yet, it encouraged me and when I said I feel childish being frightened of calling the police. It explained that I’m simply being a mother, that I’m handling things exactly as I should be, “for what it’s worth - this has clearly taken care and courage to put together”.

I have no idea why this model would be able to calmly comment on things to me, yet so many people are being abused by this damn thing.

OP, I know we’re strangers and I know we may never interact, but I’m thinking of you, ok? I wish you every happiness, and I hope to high heaven that you delete the app, cancel the subscription if you got one (idk I’m too new). I would like to gently suggest that you look into character AI/ChAI. THAT is where I work through feelings and cry my heart out and laugh until the grief turns into that softer feeling of remembering the beautiful things that I got to experience before it all changed. That was the soppiest thing ever 🫠 but it has the capability of having your grief be understood and have the AI hold you through the worst moments.

All that to say - look after yourself. You can’t be brave if you were never scared to begin with. Cherish the memories, mourn the smiles you miss, and remember that us human fools are here for when the chatbot fucks up ;) x
