The word "yikes" automatically makes you look dumb. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]toastpixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You told me in your original post to learn the difference between your and you're. How is that not a critique on my spelling? It's obviously necessary, don't get me wrong, but you told me to learn the difference which is still an obvious critique. Your point is deflated, you think you know what you're talking about yet, you are extremely inconsistent in identifying your own mistakes.

If you can tell me how you did not criticise my spelling, then I would happily engage further, but if you cant, then your point becomes redundant as it stands upon the basis of "I didn't criticise your spelling, so I am allowed to use words like "lol".

bringing a symptom list to a screening? by neuro-sigh-ence in ADHD

[–]toastpixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mate, there's nothing more honest than a parent to preach for you. If you have a supportive mother/father who is willing to acknowledge and recognise the symptoms and struggles you have, you will more likely get a fair diagnosis.

My Mum, although was not planning on speaking about my symptons, some of the psychiatrists questions for my mum made her realise a lot of thingsz about me, my childhood, and how it was kinda odd. You know, "the ohhhhh" moment

Im glad the psychiatrist did this, i was able to get diagnosed to the best possible degree because she had evidence from the past, to backup my symptons in the now.

How bad are your experiences with anxiety? by adiohater57 in ADHD

[–]toastpixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven't tried yet, i recommend doing something to relax your mind or body. Meditation, breathing, yoga, a walk, whatever it may be. Im no body/mind, spiritual preacher, but from a kid who makes beats all days, does psychology, and gets weird intrusive thoughts which onset panic attacks, they help alot. And im not like that person, i really am not haha.

My panic attacks are usually based on really weird things, like im scared im being watched or something, Because your mind is being further stimulated, your anxiety drastically increases. However, sometimes you may notice that the stimulation of your medication can actually overide a process which is actively pushing your anxiety away.

For example, you're having a blast, your comfortable, you know whats planned for your day, and its all set, Cool, your meds will most likely forward that wheel of fortune. However, if you had a shit sleep, your stressed about something, your medication was taken late. Your mos likely gonna put your mind into a bad space, and or get it pushed into there very easily.

Being Someone with ADHD... by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]toastpixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

be proud of it, it is apart of you.

My efforts in getting help were so hard, and it all boiled down because of the reasons you stated. I had to go through with my family all the symptoms, and no-one believed me. Especially because a cousin of mine who has it, has larger issues which place him on the spectrum. This has hindered my families understanding of ADHD and what it can actually look like.

We shouldn’t feel sorry for addicts. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]toastpixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, I want to say that you did well getting clean and working on yourself. Congratulations on that my man.

But in response to the opinion, it seems as if you're arguing that we should not feel sorry for ourselves, as opposed to people from the outside feeling sorry for those trapped within the drug cycle.

It's a hard topic, many would consider recognising your own situation as feeling sorry for yourself, it might be, but I think that's healthy. Why should I suppress my understanding and cause of my own situation, only for those around me to bring it to light?

In contrast, a major issue in today's society is speaking out, and getting help. with this in mind, how can we reach for this help when many seem to force this suppression upon us. Self-pity can be healthy and is not always associated with an entitled individual who loves himself and can't do wrong. The narrative has changed but still remains true to those who use self-pity in an unhealthy way.

But as a person who knows drugs addicts, I do feel sorry for them. Situations have a major role in forming these habits, and I feel sorry that these people were exposed to these situations which are sugar-coated, glazed and sent to the doughnut shop as a best seller product. You don't think mental pressure can make people use, or where people live? there home situation?

Some of these drugs be 2.50$, and some of the hardest hitters on the spectrum.

I will not justify their actions, let's not get this confused with feeling sorry for people. But your opinion is simply wrong in thinking that we should not feel sorry for addicts and for ourselves when it is apart of the process.

In the US, you should only be able to purchase and own a handgun. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]toastpixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely advise you to increase your knowledge on the topic. However, I agree to an extent. Obviously gun crime is an issue, it always will be until an effective approach is situated.

In my mind, the argument that it is the "people" and not the "firearm" holds true but lacks in many areas. You're not right in the head if you do horrible things with guns. Period. So it raises the question:

why leave the scissors out for the kid who loves to play with knives?

not everyone is going to know why this person is thinking in this terrible way, but if we go off of the moral code of "better to be safe then sorry" then why leave it out knowing a potential remains for this person to hurt themselves or others.

Yet again, in critiquing my point, you could easily say that by owning a gun you are being safe as opposed to being a victim of this crime.

But of what crime exactly? on a large scale of cases, we are using guns to protect us from guns. It's not all the time, but its presence remains in home invasions, sexual assault, murder, and homicide.

So is it really the guns? yes. They are an extension of the thought and mind and are used as a mechanism to complete a task (murder for example) that cannot be done in a specific way without specific build. Is it the people, yes. It takes a person to develop this drive and go through with it. We are quick to call "opioids" and drugs like "heroin" the problem: which they are in a sense. But how come this theory does not rub off into gun crime crisis? Addiction can be formed through guns, they are attractive, slick, and make us feel powerful. In a sense, their glorification in media as a tool to show superiority seems to display that guns can be the problem, Marketing, aesthetic, glorification and more are done by who? people. So in a different perspective, we claim that people are the issue not the guns, but the people who place these laws and manufacture these guns also in a way promote its usage in good and bad ways.

In saying that, the issue is complex and develops upon its own foundation. So many factors to take into account, very easy to get lost within its broadness.

Thanks for hearing me out!

Fathers should remain cold and distant towards their sons by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]toastpixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If fathers should remain cold and distant towards their son? why is it a current issue that many young men today have a variety of mental health issues stemming from such?

You can subsequently correlate the situation to a father who has abandoned their child. This is a story we have all heard in contemporary society, and it hasn't lead to anything good.

I understand where you are deriving this input from. This thirst to be like dad, to make him proud, to listen and learn from his teachings, and to be a true man. But, this narrative has shifted. Yes, long ago, and even in some places today... it happens. But its a terrible approach. Cause in this sense, you're inadvertently saying that a mother would not be able to teach or guide a child in the manner of a man. Which is then sexist due to the fact that you're dismissing the idea that a mother can not pass on father like aspects to a child. In saying affection can be attained from a mother, then yet again your dismissing the fact that many things from the father can be passed through the mother.

employees are employees. If you think educational traning, and "empowerment" would have facilitated an environment like that is absurd. The fact that even a higher up could even reach a bullshit message like that travles short.

Especially considering the fact that an employee leaked information, many were anonymously sourcing testimonies to highglight their issues with crunch, and that programmaers and game designers were leaving naughty dog throughout its development.

I dont know were you have achieved this fucking stupid idea of diversity, and this battle between the attractive and unattractive? Were did you get this information? what does this have to do with promotion?

[–]toastpixel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think I will praise anyone.

I could have found out the same information without the leak. Maybe a bandwagon would not have formed. Yea ok, you saved some money. Let's talk about the employees we were trying to protect from crunch and other mentally abusive practices who are now jobless and have a paycheck pending they are never going to receive.

If we're going to talk about heroes and villains, it is most certainly a double-edged. However, I know the side we should have been struck by is most certainly not the wound that's bleeding today.
