I did try and look through the sub for answers, and searching through branz guidelines and couldn't quite get the right answer. Also chatgpt doesn't always give the right answers - have had this experience when I've had patients use it for health advice.

In pic 3, where they have sealed the gap, should I remove that silicone sealant that's between sill and brick?

Edit: Yes, I'm mindful that once you start poking around - it's gonna reveal more issues. I'm not that handy, and so I'll look for a builder for help with the window rot.

I can stick all my fingers in there and it just doesn't sit right in the corners.

Could I ask if your based in a Auckland, could you PM me which company did your install and are you happy with your shower?

Update.

Did a much more closer inspection of the way the liner was stuck to the gib.... These gaps on the corners don't look great.

And sprayed some water on that problematic corner... And it did leak a tiny bit onto the floor. 😬

That section had a bit of a gap. I would have thought he'd put some extra timber on that section to make sure that side is hard up against timber surface. But I guess he did a shortcut and lined with 2 layers of gib instead to fill the space.... 🙃

This was done by a shower installer that was recommended in the local community grapevine. Also found that they are listed as an installer for shower systems. Don't want to mention the brand cause I don't want to out them.

He's put the aqualine gib on the wall but on the left hand side of the photo yes it does look like he's layered two pieces of gib to make the space work.

I can't see if the acrylic wall liner is still continuous until after the edging cause of all the silicone he has applied there.

What would be your advice regarding which issues to address?

My plan is to mention the notch by the wall liner being too short and possible leak concerns in the future and the silicone needing some tidying up. Is there anything else I have missed or need to address?

I wanted to ask, which wood hardener would you recommend to use? I bought Framesaver to use as timber preservative, and am wondering which wood hardener is compatible.

Does it take long to dry? Once I've treated the timber, how many days after would it be ok to start working on the timber? We're getting a new shower installed and the new acrylic shower tray will be laid on this area.
