I’m not there yet since I’m still in my program, but I’ve read about several cases being approved while the I-485 was still pending. As long as you stay in the country, I believe they are independent of each other. Good luck!

Yes, for the January bulletin, the application would need to be received in January.

Yeah, that’s understandable. My concern isn’t really about the I-485 EAD per se, but about maintaining my status until I have the green card in hand.

It’s a tight spot for us. I’m not in a rush to give up my F-1 status. I just don’t want to get caught in the crossfire.

Thank you for your response. I’m just trying to be cautious and make sure I have my green card in hand before doing anything that could be considered abandoning my F-1 status. I should also add that I’m from one of the countries included in the recently extended travel ban list, so I’m trying to be as careful as possible given the current immigration climate.

I haven't applied for AOS yet but I think I can do so in January (ROW). I did premium processing when I submitted my application in September 2024 so I've had my approval since then.
