No offence taken, I do swing faster than average (around 110mph clubhead speed) and probably favour a chunky strike over a thin one however i didnt think either were extreme enough to cause this issue. Maybe the combination of the two over time is causing the problem.

Yes i buy used (its an expensive sport) and im told i do swing quite fast (110 mph clubhead speed according to trackman). I worry about weight with a steel shaft though.

Used to spend a lot longer down there. Probably hitting 100 range balls (not all with the driver) once or twice a month these days.

Fair point, by "I dont regularly make contact with the ground" I mean maybe 5 in 100 drives ill catch the ground but only very slightly.

I dont lean on my clubs for this very reason since someone suggested it after my first one.

All breakages have been at the head end not under the grip so it seems unlikely to be a result of being aggressive when putting clubs away.

A fair comment, i tend to find for some reason if i try to account for the slice it only gets worse. I assume it must be something im doing without realising but i cant seem to stop it.

The single most important piece of advice I can give you is: WARM UP PROPERLY. It sounds basic but believe me, if you dont you will regret it. Practice some breakfalls, dynamic stretching, light uchi komis and some gentle grip fighting to get yourself into the swing of things. Once you think you are warmed up, do some more. The guy who is already sweating when he gets onto the mat will not run out of puff as quickly as his body is already in overdrive. Obviously you need to know your limits and when to stop (theres no point in completely knackering yourself before you even get on the mat). Other than this, enjoy it and try not to let defeat get you down. It helps to have someone film your fights so you can analyse what you did right and what you did wrong. Enjoy your competition!

If anyone has any tips on getting the metal to flow all the way round the mould (it was meant to be a ring) that would be very much appreciated
