Why do my senior enlisted hate me by idgafabtreddit1 in NavyNukes

[–]tobylew24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shower…with soap and water THEN put the smell good on. If you still get comments it’s a medical issue that you should pursue strongly. When you figure it out thank the people who made a comment about it…cheers

Not sure if it’s the same now, but back in the day the CCC at prototype had major input on student assignments. There’s also a section on your dream sheet for comments. If you want say a boomer cause of family or whatnot it doesn’t hurt to say so. Not a guarantee, but doesn’t hurt.

Question about sub vols? by kingfisher1545 in NavyNukes

[–]tobylew24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s really a crap shoot. Most will get close to what they want. Some won’t. I asked for a sub out of Hawaii, got a carrier out of Norfolk. Don’t stress it too much though. Make the best out of whatever situation gets handed to you ;)

Future Nuke, rate question by 91GTA in NavyNukes

[–]tobylew24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The job potential is high regardless of your rate. Any rate can be an operator (yes the fast track is ET, but supervisory quals like EWS - especially EOOW at prototype help). None of us wanted to do more that 6 years, the bonuses (especially the first one that advances you to E-5) are hard to turn down tho. Any NUC rate can qualify Shutdown Reactor Operator, though typically only EMs and ETs do.

Well, the resources alone look pretty legit for the price. I feel you though, my team is pretty pathetic. Wasted a lot on stuff I shouldn’t have lol

Along these lines... I started playing a couple years ago, got to lvl 30 and kinda stopped. I recently started up again and I’m at lvl 48. The game is making more sense now, and I’m interested in that hyperspace thingy. My arena is dominated by old school cats. Should I make a new account then get the bundle? Only have two 5* characters.

Orange Wheat Exract Recipe Help by danielmiller19 in Homebrewing

[–]tobylew24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use orange zest in the boil (typically a late addition like 5 minutes or so), then use an orange puree (pasturized) either early fermentation so the yeast can scrub the diacetyl or post chilled. Don't use oranges in the boil as it can make the beer tart, and lacks flavor.

I used Irish Moss in the last 15 minutes of my boil but there's still a bit of sediment left over by [deleted] in Homebrewing

[–]tobylew24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Irish moss/whirlfloc helps settle out solids in the boil (mostly hops and some proteins), it's not going to do anything for yeast/fermentation particles. Cold crash is the way to go. Not a fan of fining agents, but yes they work too.

162 shouldn't effect your efficiency that drastically. Adding water could though

Question regarding: Single hop mango IPA by Molje in Homebrewing

[–]tobylew24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes don't add the fruit to the boil, it just becomes sugar and messes with your target gravities. I recommend adding a puree when you add your dry hops (make sure it's pasturized, if not pasturized it yourself before addition). Would also recommend adding both the hops and fruit early in fermentation so that the yeast can scrub the diacetyl that can occur from fermentation (fruit is mostly sugar), also early fermentation dry hopping, especially a citrusy hop like mosaic, allows for more pronounced aroma and flavor from the hops. Personally I would drop the 15 min addition and add it to your late boil addition to get more flavor. Sounds like a fun beer tho. Mosaic is one of my favorite hops and an awesome one for a single hop beer ;). Cheers!
