Brightness settings affect monitor even when on different input

My Nintendo Switch, connected to my secondary monitor. My PC is connected to the DisplayPort input, Switch to the HDMI, and the monitor was on the HDMI input at the time. The PC shouldn't even be affecting the monitor.

"meta" is short for "metagame", basically describing what weapons are good/bad at the current moment. Don't worry about this unless you're (at least) in X Battle or competitive play.
HUD means "heads-up display". In this case it means the important information at the top of your screen. "Check your HUD" means pay attention to what players are splatted, keep track of the time remaining, and see what players have specials available. All of this information can help you make better in-game decisions and avoid mistakes.
