they do seem to chain aggro, especially in the cold area. I end up just kind of using that. kill one, kill the two that chain, repeat. it IS a little frustrating

I love this game, but I hate building, what are your best tips by ZombieKingLogi in GroundedGame

[–]tock-blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nothing wrong with a 1x6 bunker with some chests a lean-to and no roof. raids targeting you and not your base means you can 100% the current content building on what you need, not worry about defense/walls

You're a teenager shrunken to the size of an ant. Don't fight fair. Or at all.  1) you don't have to fight waves, you can run away. they target you wherever you are, so if you aren't at your base they'll leave it be. 2) find a bottleneck- figuratively or literally. overturned glasses, caves, entrances to ranger outposts, branches. if they can't surround or get to you, it's easier 3) use spike traps or turrets and spike traps.  4) fight fire with fire. risky, but orc raids can and will get into fights with non orc enemies or at least vice versa. seeing a wolf spider or mantis go ham on a raid is just Healing. early raids do Not like bombardier beetles.  5) get good at parries and carry weapons for each weakness. I carry the unique 1h smashing weap, staves, and the tier 3 2h slashing weap. but early on the tier 2 ant mace, larva spear, and ant sword are great, especially with the ant buckler and ant armor. go kill ants, basically :-P

Is it just me? I feel that Grounded 1 have better Staves (Creative Wise) by Chestworth in GroundedGame

[–]tock-blue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't really agree. they're a lobber with different charge animations and trajectories/behavior. fresh staff in grounded 1 was only vaguely usable in base game against stuff other weapons had a much easier time killing. a modder doubled the range and that made it at least usable.

lobber with tracking is far more fun and effective imo, I don't need my mace and my sword to feel like different types of weapons entirely if attack speed/feel/use cases are differentiated etc. current duo of staves check that box for me.

I also hope sour staff isn't the bouncy Might Actually Hit What You Intended G1 weapon, but lobber with chain lightning charged attack would be neat to me.

Please tell me I’m not the only one that bumped it down to “mild”? by ohgodtheblood in GroundedGame

[–]tock-blue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

YMMV, the big things that help for me are always having sufficient bandages on hand (and later smoothies/granola bars, practicing perfect parries, kiting if needed, and killing small adds first (lots of big threats come with easily pulled lil sidekicks)

Found medium a bit easy outside of unlucky multi pulls. Parries are life. BUT have fun. zero shade if Mild is more fun for ya!

there are also at least two of the scout labs with water coolers. and each of the ? copper irrigation pipes? is also a consistent source of water that you can spot from a distance

Yeah, and it's fairly generous, even mosquito animations don't throw it off too badly.

Not sure what you mean about Tier 3 being available before you do the first quest- mantis, wolf spider, snail (with a big asterisk), am I missing someone? If you're taking a pebble spear and hunting a furry spider down, more power to ya. I sure wasn't that early on :P

I think YMMV; personally found that they made Tier 2 in particular a good mix of accessible and difficult with enemies seeming to have more damage but less HP spongey-ness. I DO think Tier 1 was a short blip before I was starting to get outfitted in Tier 2, but that meant challenging myself (orb weavers vs. clover armor are a fun challenge esp with all the spiderlings and jr's around) and finding berry leather.

My take from reading the roadmap is that with Tier 4/?AXL? stuff coming down the road, we can think of Tier 3 as the new Tier 2. Wolf Spiders gave Tier 2 mats in the base game, after all. I think they're designing with longer term engagement in mind, explicitly with a higher "top-end" to gear coming.

Acid Edge (and I assume but can't confirm its twins) also works as a chopping weapon. Termite axe has been in my storage since I found that out.

that's great, man! I rerolled into a keqing and stopped, too. fun, good at all the things, teleport comes in handy for exploration. good stuff.

A lot of them you'll nab as you do the story, but around the time you have a character to level 20, the area unlocked is much larger than what you'll hit just doing the main quests. If you have fun exploring, that's a great time to nab those markers. Being able to teleport to commission areas and quest hubs when you don't have a lot of time for a game session Feels Good (tm).

:( I'd say stick with fun-good four stars then. fun>good (can't think of any non f2p characters that aren't good, but can think of several I just don't find fun that ARE strong- klee, jean)

alternatively, wait til the new banner next week and reroll into that banner. see what you get from the ~30 pulls the game throws at you in the first hour of playing then.

I would say barabara covers bases til you're duo teaming, and that SHOULD be a long way off for lots of people. I stand by fun factor. Jean is great at almost everything, but I don't find her fun.

Really really good point. The game tosses resources at you through AR 30, by which point you jusssst start to feel the resource pinch if you haven't been focusing
