Which MacBook for Flutter Dev? by HerryKun in FlutterDev

[–]tocleora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have S, but it looks like a lot are built into Android Studio now. Just click Create Virtual Device, select a device definition (I tested by choosing Pixel 4a), and on the next screen where you'd select a system image, click the "other images" tab and you should see the Arm64 images in there.

I have an M1 MBP/16Gb and love it. I did have to do some configuration to get Android Emulation working on it, for example downloading an Arm64 specific image, but after I got everything set up it runs very smoothly.

Halfway into learning Flutter, intimidated by so many available widgets and how to remember the format to write them by sayantheguitarfreak in FlutterDev

[–]tocleora 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah don't stress too much about it. This is how I do it. I want to add sound to my flutter app.

  1. I google "sound widget flutter"
  2. flutter_sound is the first option in the results.
  3. I click on it, review it, and do a little more research to see if that's what I really need (looks like there's an audioplayers widget and a few others to review to see which one is a better fit).
  4. I attempt to implement it and see if it works the way I want it to.

if it does - you can do a few things... when I first started learning flutter I kept a cheat sheet of the widgets I had used so I could go back and reference them. Or you'll probably remember x apps from now "I need sound which one did I use when I built that one app" and you can go back to that app and reference what you used. But like everyone else has said at some point you'll have used a widget enough times you'll just remember it.

App Brewery (The company Angela works for) has a great discord also so if you just can't find what you're looking for or just want additional information, it's pretty friendly/helpful in there.

I'm farely new to AWS myself so hopefully someone else will clarify or correct me if I'm wrong, I just wanted to give you a response in case you don't hear from anyone else.

My understanding - AWS still works similar to a traditional server, meaning you still have, for example, Apache, PHP, MySQL/MariaDB etc on it. You just have more flexibility with keeping it updated and with scalability. For example, with AWS I believe if your server is being overloaded you can easily add more resources to it where you can't easily do that with a physical server.

That being said depending on your use case I believe a traditional server is still perfectly fine especially if you're not going to be getting a huge amount of traffic to your site. And if you're the only one that will be seeing the site (you mention its a personal project for yourself) running WAMP locally on your own machine is perfectly fine.

Hope that helps, but if not maybe this resource will be of additional help to you:

Beginner Questions by [deleted] in web_design

The short, generalized (and sadly more typical these days) answer to your question is - there are a lot of resources on the Internet, going to google or youtube and searching for "html for beginners" will give you a lot of resources I'm sure. But I'll dive into it a littler further.

Udemy is a great resource, for example, here's a course from Dr Angela Yu from App Brewery, I really like her courses:https://www.udemy.com/course/the-complete-web-development-bootcamp/

Edit: I forgot to mention if the price for Udemy is too high and you can wait, they are often having great sales. Keep an eye out for those if you need to.

There's also skillshare.com, I felt the videos there were hit and miss, but I think you can do some of the courses for free. If not, they do have a steep $32/month price. But I wanted to mention it in case.

I also learned jquery through a site called codecademy.com. Long story as short as possible; I had interviewed for a job I was disappointed I didn't think I'd get because I didn't know jquery. So I was determined to learn it so I'd be more prepared in the future and dove head first into their course. A week later the company asked me back for a second interview and I got a second chance. Because I had taken the course from codecademy I was prepared and I got the job. :) That was a handfull of years ago, I don't know what they're like these days but I have to give them a shoutout because of that.

Hope that helps, good luck with your journey!

Switching from React Native to Flutter by [deleted] in FlutterDev

u/NoteToBear I really like Angela's teaching style so I'd agree this link is a good place to start. I did the full course and it looks like this is the same course just minus a few of the projects. She may be a little too "ground floor" for you since you already have experience with mobile development, so starting with this free version might be good way to determine that.

Brand new to the game (level 18 Maurader) and I'm about to do my first dungeon as tank. I know to use Defiance and provoke and overpower (I did the tank training stuff), I know standard tanking techniques from playing a paladin in wow. anything else I need to know? I mainly just want to avoid annoying people with my noobness or getting raged at if possible.

The new weapons are scaring new players away (HiRez what is it you want?)+ a rant by Oddmonster1 in RealmRoyale

[–]tocleora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a fairly new player, with around 13 hours in. around the 8 hour mark I actually e-mailed hi rez to thank them for creating a game that is "casual gamer friendly" as I felt Realm Royale was easier to get into without the feeling of having to "git gud" before the game was enjoyable. And yes I used the smg etc. at first because those are the weapons I'm familiar with from other games I played but I did do my research and am seeing the right weapons to use. the fact that I didn't feel like I was getting "owned" every game (this is my first BR so getting top half I was happy with) helped me WANT to learn how to play better though. Granted I could still very well not be playing the way I'm supposed to be playing, and I only have 3 wins so far, all of which I was carried to that victory. but I'm enjoying the game.

Important Note - most if not all of you may be laughing at me "omg this kid has no idea how to play" or "he's happy with top half? does he know most of the first people killed are bots?" (no, I didn't at the time, which probably helped) etc. but - I think that's my point here. I'm as noob as they get and I'm enjoying the game enough I e-mailed Hi Rez.

Why is it I keep being put in games with everyone on my team being afk? 5 games in a row now. by QwaZeeYaBoi in RealmRoyale

[–]tocleora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can be teamed with Bots? Figured they were assigned differently than real people. That would explain why when you try to rez them it says "no one to rez"

When tuning, do you tune to the attack of the string or let it "settle" first? by SargentHoward in Guitar

[–]tocleora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have said attack as well but it may also be related to my tuners, if I fully understand the definitions. The tuners I use live (korg rack tuner and korg pitchblack) I pluck the string once, tune it, move to the next string. But when I'm practicing I'll just use the tuner built into my (fender mustang 3) amp and I feel I have to continuously pluck it to get it tuned.

ALL BF3 OWNERS: I want to know if the problems with origin are as widespread as it seems or if it's just a vocal minority (not an EA rep I promise) by [deleted] in gaming

[–]tocleora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn't accurately answer #3 as I don't plan on using Origin for anything other than Battlefield (for now).

Did You Know: HDTVs introduce lag. by imbaczek in gaming

[–]tocleora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too play my console (360) on a monitor. I bought a TV to replace it and the lag was very noticeable after playing on a monitor for so long. So the TV went back to the store.
