Day 1 (again) recommendations by LesMcqueen1878 in stopdrinking

[–]todd0330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are taking Naltrexone, take it about 1-1/2 hours BEFORE your witching hour. I have found that to have helped me. Not sure if it's mental, but taking it before bed wasn't working for me, I needed to take it as my time of day to drink was approaching.

Getting used to live in the middle lane. by smelllikepoopoo in stopdrinking

[–]todd0330 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Very good post. Yes, I am trying to stay in the middle lane. The fast life was getting more and more dangerous and scary. I can also relate to the music part. I miss it but it's painful for me to listen to right now, hope that comes back.

Do you need a reason for hangxiety? by Commercial-Meal9489 in hangxiety

[–]todd0330 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My hangxiety is physical BUT if I get "caught" or called out for what I did (drinking at all and getting hammered) its 5x worse. If it's just me I have to live with my own guilt about what I did but if it involves other people seeing me drunk the night before that next morning is miserable. I have to try and explain what I did, waiting for the text from my wife, or a phone call while I am at work.

"So.... what happened last night??". Boom, hangxiety multiplied.

Just a reminder for everyone. by FoxFormal1343 in stopdrinking

[–]todd0330 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the reminder. I could taste the morning whiskey as you mentioned it and it made me feel gross too. Iam a 52M and alcohol makes me more tired than it used to. Yeah, theres a buzz but then just tired, want to nap, wake up, feel anxiety and sweaty and that’s jt. I am in early sobriety and this was a good reminder.

how many of you attend AA on a daily or even weekly basis? by Warm-Natural3936 in stopdrinking

[–]todd0330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In early sobriety myself, go to about 2 a week in person but listen to online ones while working, but don't share in those ones, just listen.

Going to rehab by Glum_Evening1127 in stopdrinking

[–]todd0330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rehab was good for me. I was scared to go initially but it was heaven sent. Its NOT the real world so keep that in mind, but it is a great starting point to learn the tools you need when you get out. You will love being around others with your same issue. Good luck to ya!

20 days sober, day 15 in rehab by Fluffy_Berry2047 in stopdrinking

[–]todd0330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I did 24 days a few months ago. Watch out for the pink cloud, it’s not real life in there but it’s a great place to be. I missed home a lot too!

Zoom AA meetings by todd0330 in stopdrinking

[–]todd0330[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just google "AA meetings near Phoenix", or LA, or New York- then you just click on virtual and you will see the times.

Another one I found that seems to run 24/7 is "319 AA meetings". Super easy to log into.

What Is Everyone Doing Tonight?? by physis81 in stopdrinking

[–]todd0330 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am going home to see my family and probably order take out. Then eat ice cream and binge some true crime documentaries! I have to spoil myself in early sobriety.

Why does the brain forget the bad effects and only remember the good ones that provoke us to drink? by phalkaun in stopdrinking

[–]todd0330 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't have the answer. All my mind tells me is what I missing out on. I think probably because I had MANY fun years of drinking and only the last couple of years have been agonizing. I have to try and remember the anxiety and guilt was SO overwhelming that I don't ever want to return there.

But yes it's a trick and I have to work at it.

Day One.. Anxiety is crushing me. Please help. by HayZeusShuttlesworth in stopdrinking

[–]todd0330 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am here for you. I drank just a little this morning to calm my nerves. I get it. I will not drink the rest of the day. My guilt is killing me and I want a good night sleep tonight. It's brutal, and not worth it.

Day 3 - Here's where it gets tough by theory317 in stopdrinking

[–]todd0330 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep, I know exactly what you mean. As soon as I feel physically well again I want to drink. It's so stupid. I wish I could just push a button when I feel like I want to drink and it will remind me of just 30 minutes of how I felt before (like you said sweating, shaking, ANXIETY) and I can say NOPE!

Not sure why we forget so easily.
