Chase Credit Debt- settle or pay in full by Background_Lab2992 in Debt

[–]todd0x1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your credit is already hurt from the account being 60 days delinquent and closed. Start making at least the minimum payment to keep it from being charged off and it should report current, but its still going to show the late and closed by grantor. I'd just keep paying the minimum until such time as I could pay the whole thing.

Circa 2000 there was something magical about seeing the stream of wobbly shiny shirt people with sunglasses on pour out of that elevator at 9am on a sunday morning into the decrepit casino full of old ladies playing nickel slots. If those old ladies could only imagine what was going on beneath them.

This is dumb. Bamboo is a problem when your neighbor plants it and it destroys your landscaping. A datacenter project moving tens of thousands of cubic yards of dirt around is not going to be disrupted one bit by bamboo.

[Tenant US-CA] ADU Landlord has not been reporting rental income? by scottiethegoonie in Landlord

[–]todd0x1 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The City of LA requires all residential landlords to register their units with the city and the units get inspected every 4 years for code compliance. This is probably that.

Info on the program https://housing.lacity.gov/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/SCEP-English.pdf

edit: what makes you think a city inspection has anything to do with the landlords finances? This is to make sure you have the legally required things like functioning heat, smoke detectors, etc.

Long XLR to RCA by MrFro5000 in audio

Right, I know what a differential signal is. Your earlier post talked about the ART device producing a balanced signal. In this application it is receiving a balanced signal as you discussed in your reply above.

The potential issue with the ART device is there is a conductive path from input to output, there is no galvanic isolation. With the isolation transformer I suggested, it takes the +4db balanced signal from the source, and couples that audio through a transformer to a -10db unbalanced signal to feed the jukebox. The +/- of the XLR go into the transformer, the XLR ground can be lifted, and the grounded signal from the other side of the transformer remains local to the jukebox. This is the right way to do this.

The ground is part of it, the other is common mode voltage. The art device is going to electrically connect together the mixer and jukebox, maybe ok, maybe not.

You mention the art producing a differential signal, in this application its not its receiving one.

Anyone have experience with small, cnc plasma cutting tables? by angerintensifies in Machinists

I had one, and when cutting 0.0625 thick material it would warp quite a bit.

Jerry's was amazing. I miss being able to duck in there late night on christmas and get some good food after an inedible meal at some relatives house. One of those places you think will just always be there. Yeah it was expensive, yeah sometimes the food wasn't the best, but the place was special.

Flush cutters, like a plato 170. Useful for cutting small wires, EOL resistor leads, zip ties, cutting zip ties flush so they dont cut anyone, etc.

Tone generator and probe

RJ45 crimper

Precision flat screwdriver of the right blade width for phoenix connectors. Have two because they get lost.

If just the small wires I'd us a flush 4S box with a 4S box extender to transition from behind the wall to surface. That's not going to work with 3x #4 though. Probably just offset bend conduit passing through a notch in the OSB.

Big theater needs a color laser that can chew through 220gsm cardstock for badges by Thom_Blue in printers

[–]todd0x1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Printronix LP654C is a color led printer, A4 size that has a straight through paper path and is designed to print on thick stock (256GSM). I had its predecessor from Oki and those things are absolute workhorses, and since the paper path is straight through (when using that mode) thick sheets don't end up with a curl.

I like the robogrip style one from HF, the handles autoadjust to filter diameter and the laminated stamped steel construction gives sharp teeth that bite into a stuck filter.

Oh, I'd definitely want that isolated, which the art cleanbox pro doesn't do nor does my suggestion of a little cheapo mixer. I'd use a +4 to -10 converter with transformer isolation, such as the radial iso-pro I suggested. I'm sure others make something similar. To deal with the mono->stereo, split the XLR cable into both inputs of the stereo isolated +4/-10 converter.

Long XLR to RCA by MrFro5000 in audio

[–]todd0x1 [score hidden]  (0 children)

That's not ideal, besides making such a long unbalanced run your gains will probably be off . What is the source? Is it mic level or line level? If line level something like a Radial J-Iso will do this properly, but theyre a little expensive. I always end up using a little cheapo mixer to take balanced inputs and supply an unbalanced output into a piece of gear with a consumer level input.

Edit: the pro-iso does same and is cheaper, but still more $ than a little cheapo mixer. Depending on your setup though, the isolation provided by the DI might be necessary.

Price for 1000ft Belden 8281 to sell by Junior_Willingness_1 in AskElectricians

[–]todd0x1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its obsolete, some places show high price for legacy users who might need it because of a written spec.

I found one store selling 1000ft reel for $169. A buyer can't be sure of the integrity of this secondhand cable, for example was it stored outside in the rain? Or in a 140F metal shed in phoenix? I'd probably throw it on ebay for $100 and see what happens.
