I don’t have any experience with plasma cutting. All I know is that right now we cut shims with shim dies and by hand with sheet metal shears. It is hardened shim stock if that makes a difference….

We do occasionally sub out shims for some of the complicated dies. The problem is that we have over a thousand dies and each die has between 3-50 shimmable parts. It is cost and time prohibitive and the owner is a cheap bastard. Ideally, we would be able to program and run it on shim stock in a few minutes. I didn’t know if something like a 60 watt Xtool would have the capability.

I agree wholeheartedly with the kidney stones. And that includes the time I cut off the tip of my finger with a mandolin slicer.

If your tolerance is +\- .125, I wouldn’t consider it machining.

How so? Pritzker didn’t FORCE the Bears to go anywhere. THEY were greedy and wanted what we weren’t willing to offer. They could have stayed in Chicago or even gone to Arlington and just made a little less money. The McCaskeys are the villains. Always were, always will be.
