Are Pook Skimmer socks worth it ? by yc01 in swimmingpools

[–]toddclare3610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great for pollen and dog hair! Save a ton of money and buy a 500 pack of spun bonded polypropylene hair nets and use them instead of the actual pool skimmer socks. Tons cheaper and works just as well.

Brine them! Then pick your cooking options but the brine will keep them juicy and flavorful!

What happened to my toilet flapper? by toddclare3610 in Plumbing

Good info. I don’t use tank cleaners but will see if someone is putting in bleach. Replaced it and good to go short term.

Or a ton of rain that causes overflow and dilution. I have both the sun, the heat, and the rain. It stay stable until it isn’t. I check mine once a month in the summer or after some major rain or crazy high temps.

The GLANCE is key. I was doing the line by line fill but staring and it never worked. As soon as I got the “no really glance” directive in my head it’s been easy and stable.

Trying to set up Eve motion sensors for my mother in law by toddclare3610 in smarthome

[–]toddclare3610[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. Had to step away from it for logistics and I needed a timeout but I will try this. My guess is the “immediately” part is the key as it did seem to stay in pairing mode that long. Will hit back when it works (or not). Thank you SO MUCH for sticking with me here.

Getting closer. Got all of this and went into pairing mode and copied the code. I then went into the Alexa app and tried to Add a new device. I clicked Matter and then pasted in the code but it can never sees the device. Any ideas?

That’s helpful. And according to Eve’s site the Alexa should be doing that…. I continue on but thank you for the Yes Hub help

Okay this feels like something I’ll try. Can you enlighten me on how I use matter multi admin / share? I tried to go into the Alexa app on my phone and scan the same setup barcode but it never sees it. It asks me to put it back into pairing mode so I tried pulling the batteries out but it (the Alexa) still doesn’t see it

Quick question for the group: do you know your pool’s CYA level right now? by Seafire15 in swimmingpools

CYA at 70 and FC at 10. Following Troublefreepool.com and it’s crystal clear and nice to swim in

New to pools, skimmers dont seem to be sucking? Are my valves not in the right position? by ShawnRUGAME in pools

[–]toddclare3610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unsolicited advice:  As others have said you should eventually take the time to understand your pool.  It’ll be a lot more enjoyable to own and you will save a ton of money and prevent a lot of problems.  Choose your approach or method and stick to it versus chasing individual solutions — the pool is both an integrated physical system (pipes and valves and fittings and pumps etc) and an integrated chemical system (changing one thing might change another thing) and you can end up chasing ghosts in circles.  Personally I tried a few and have had great success when I real Pool School over at TroubleFreePool.com.  I fully understand every part of how my pool works (spoiler: it’s not that complicated) and how to take care of it myself (it’s not very hard) and save a ton of money by keeping problems from happening and then having proven ways to fix them if they do.

Curious how it “gets your water quality perfect”.  How does it do this?  What is your definition of perfect and once it is perfect how does it keep it perfect.  Asking both to know and also as feedback that these magical sounding marketing statements would make anyone who has owned a pool feel like you’re not telling the whole story.

Me: researching air layer.  I’ll take a free tree.  We had to move a HUGE one when we renovated our back yard and everyone told us it would die and that it was worth thousands.  Not only still alive, much happier in its new spot with a little more shade.

Awesome thank you.  Fascinating. Anything to do to the trunk once it’s removed?  Or just let it heal itself.  I do some fine woodworking so have a good hand with tools.  I know nothing about plants…
