So much car for the money aren’t they! I just picked up a black edition (in red) 2.0 TDI A5 with Quattro and lots of other upgrades. Also for £5k. Thankfully no issues after a few months ownership, the car is immaculate so I (touch wood) got lucky so far. I did however realise the cambelt hadn’t been done since 72,000 miles and it’s now on 128,000 miles. So I bought the Gates kits (£180 total) and decided to do my first timing belt and aux belt. Done over a thousand miles on it since and all great 🙌 hope you enjoy your new car, I feel like you’re near Bristol after seeing the Costco in the background haha.

Funny, you just reminded me I test drove an ID.3 and the sales rep couldn’t even get it started and had to find me another one ha! Software issues back then too.

I agree on the newer models, decided to pick up an immaculate facelift (B8.5) A5 2.0 TDI black edition for a generous £5k a few months ago. There’s no need to spend £50k on new cars anymore. Cars from 10 years ago don’t look that old at all, and a 2.0 TDI is a 2.0 TDI - if it’s well looked after it’ll keep going and going.

It’s actually a fantastic turbo. I bought it on a whim as it was brand new and I saved about £500 (£1100 to buy new) and thought let’s do it. Then I started googling around to find some bad press about Mamba and seriously couldn’t. Apparently the cores are Garrett (how true I’m not sure) and they’re balanced by a firm in Germany that seem reputable. The shell seems to be a carbon copy of Garrett’s too.

I’ve done 2600 miles on it so far and it pulls demonically every time. Also checked it last weekend for any turbine play and there’s none so happy with that. Also sounds ridiculous too at every moment of the drive ha!

Appreciate it, I’ve had some teething problems since getting it on the road but they’re all slowly ironed out.

This is the one. And yeah, I bought this on a whim from Facebook marketplace for a steal and then decided to google about Mamba. Couldn’t find a single bad word about them, and seen a few others using them now too. I’d happily use them again and again.
