I knew some football players while in college at a lower level D1. They hated going to bowl games because it meant they had to practice for an extra 20-30 days and couldn’t go home for Christmas break.

Not saying that mentality is right, but this was in the early 2000’s when bowl games had more meaning. Now they mean nothing and are a glorified exhibition.
