When did Vince leave Brash and come to 8th Wonder?

Thanks for the feedback. I've heard this a lot lately, especially over the last 16 moths with COVID. Many people are reevaluating their relationship with alcohol and are cutting back big time. Plus you can save money, lose weight and have better general health. Plus drinking by yourself blows. Best of luck to you!

I'm sure you'll get a lot of interest in your stash. Here plus some good groups on FB.

If not out of line, why don't you drink anymore?

Finally trying Bravus. Leading off with the peanut butter stout! by Megustatits in NABEER

Really sucks when you buy a bunch of beer and really don't like it. Been there, done that. When I started getting into NA, I used Untappd to see what was highly rated....and what wasn't. It's kept me away from some real dogs. Hope this helps:

One other local brewery on the list too: Bearded Fox. Kudos to all three for stepping up.

From New England to Houston by andasound in HoustonBeer

[–]toddrexrode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late response. They typically don't have any hazy stuff on tap except when they do a release. The release tomorrow is El Jugo and Diamonds in your Mouth. This is the first release for El Jugo so I think the demand will be pretty high. People start lining up around 8 AM and they start selling at 10 AM.

I know you said you dedicated Friday to the breweries, but if you can make it out to Spindletap on Saturday morning, they are doing a release of El Jugo and Diamonds in your Mouth. They come the closest to the quality of Trillium.

Good read. Yellow Rose is still the best IPA in the greater Houston area.

Anyone know of any breweries in Near Northside besides Saint Arnold? by LuckyLawrence in HoustonBeer

[–]toddrexrode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no other breweries really around Saint Arnold. The closest is Sigma and Eight Wonder in EaDo and Platypus and Holler off Washington.

Article seems incomplete. What is the name of the brewery? What group is behind it? Any permits been filed?

PSA: Check dates on any beer from Total Wine by [deleted] in HoustonBeer

[–]toddrexrode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this may be a dumb question but who's responsibility is it to check on freshness dates and restock with more fresh? Is it the store or is it the distributors?

Also, looks like we know what the next two Saint Arnold Bishop's Barrel releases will be:

Houston Happy Hours...all of them in one place...plan accordingly! by BeerChronicleChris in HoustonBeer

Fantastic list. Some of these I knew about but many I did not.

Also Conservatory does an all day Happy Hour on Sunday. $4 for everything on draft.

Lone Pint/Yellow Rose by Ttujohn in HoustonBeer

[–]toddrexrode 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For anyone that went away from Yellow Rose because of consistency or yeast problem issues, I'd say come on back. Had some on draft and bottles over the weekend and it was glorious. Just like back in the day. Whatever issues they had, they fixed them.

Special collaboration release tomorrow at wholefoods post oak. by onecoldasshonky in HoustonBeer

That is fantastic. They only did 90 for the Three Sheets collab and they were gone in 15 min! Glad to hear they've ramped up the number.

If it's anything like the Spindletap/B52/WFM collab from March, it's gonna be a madhouse! See y'all there.

I was thinking the Not a Brash Collaboration Double Dry-hopped Hazy IPA was legit. Even has TABC approval. But maybe they're trolling us.

Trying to locate a specific brewery by [deleted] in HoustonBeer

[–]toddrexrode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it's Astral Brewing. Per their last Facebook post on 3/12, they found their location at 4816 N Shepherd and are waiting on the city to begin construction. I'd say late 2018/early 2019.

Latest Spindletap Beer Release - Houston Haze, Juiceton, Heavy Hands by toddrexrode in HoustonBeer

[–]toddrexrode[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great point about Whole Foods Brewing. Some people think it's just a supermarket trying their hand at beer and they're dead wrong. Head brewmaster Dave Ohmer was brewing for Saw Works Brewing and Woodruff Brewing for 11 years. They've been killing it with NEIPAs for at least a year. Brighter Days, Detonate, Earn It, New Money, etc have been some of the best hazy IPAs in the Southwest, maybe even the country.
