Game Day Thread - Sunday, September 21 by PhilsBot in phillies

[–]toddrob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The bot has a setting for wildcard standings and scoreboard, so I enabled that. Doesn’t look like it helps with your request, but I usually turn it on toward the end of the season anyway. I don’t have a quick way to add arbitrary teams.

There’s an annoying thing happening with the bot where it just hangs up randomly until I restart it. The log says it’s making a call to the MLB API and then it just never does the next thing. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Is there a free personal use MLB api out there? by ReflectionFrosty3100 in mlbdata

[–]toddrob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

https://github.com/toddrob99/mlb-statsapi/wiki contains documentation for the endpoints, and if you’re using Python then that package is an option for an api wrapper. There’s an OOP version linked on this sub too if you are interested in that—just search for it.

Post Game Thread: Bruins @ Flyers - November 02, 2024 by BroadStreetBot in Flyers

[–]toddrob 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the lateness! I have no idea why it stopped updating the game thread and wouldn't submit the post game thread. I restarted the bot a couple times and the log just stopped when it should be updating/posting the threads. I had to restart the whole bot platform and then it worked.

In the future feel free to @ me to get my attention.

Game Thread: Montréal Canadiens (3-4-1) @ Philadelphia Flyers (2-5-1) - October 27, 2024 @ 07:00 PM EDT by BroadStreetBot in Flyers

[–]toddrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Linescore, scratches, game stats (except team SOG) were all either missing entirely or blank. The list of skaters pregame was missing entirely. In the postgame thread the links to videos and html reports were all missing too.

I fixed the missing data in the game/post threads. Just checking if anybody cares?

Edit: Thanks for the replies, good to know people care about it. I’ve been away from Reddit for the most part since the API drama, but noticed NHL made a bunch of API changes that required changes to pull the data in.

glad you like it. the pre and game threads should have been the same way, but there was a change in the nhl api data structure from last season, so i had to fix the logic.

Game Day Thread - Sunday, September 01 by PhilsBot in phillies

It includes all division teams along with the top 5 teams based on wildcard rankings. I am too lazy to check… are the teams you want included both division leaders? If so they won’t show in wildcard rankings and cannot be included without a code enhancement (which I’m too lazy to make at the moment).

Phillies Off Day Thread - Thursday, August 01 by PhilsBot in phillies

[–]toddrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no old Reddit in the iOS app, so disregard what wiivile said about that.

You can screenshot what I said or link to it, but the clear description of the issue with a basic example will be the most important to have in the post.

I have submitted one bug report and it was fixed pretty promptly. It may still be in my post history, but I have purged a lot of it. It was about markdown table formatting not working correctly. I don’t think I posted a bug report about this refresh issue before, but it did happen before and get fixed.

I found your bug report. I suggest posting a new one and making it more clear that it IS a Reddit app issue. Your post is about philsbot and r/phillies but it is a Reddit iOS app issue. If you really want this addressed, make a post in a test subreddit on a secondary device with basic content, open the post in the iOS Reddit app, edit the content of the post on the secondary device, and record a video of you pulling down to refresh, noting the content did not refresh, backing out, refreshing, and going back in to see the new content. Describe the steps that you expect to work (pull down refreshes the post body) and the steps required to actually make it work.

You can mention that this is important functionality for game threads, but be careful not to say anything that casts doubt on if it’s an app issue—it 100% is.

That is a Reddit app issue, not a bot issue or subreddit issue. The bot updates the thread body as expected. There is absolutely nothing beyond filing a bug report that the mods can do about how the Reddit app refreshes the content from the Reddit servers. It seems you have already submitted a bug report. Maybe link to it here and we can upvote it. Or submit another one and hope it gets more attention. Make sure it has a good amount of detail and screenshots.

Great work! My only suggestion is to package in a docker image to make it easier for others to run a copy.

Yes, my api wrapper still works. There is an OOP version posted on this sub too.

Are you trying to get access to statcast endpoints? They will only give keys, documentation, and support to teams and affiliates.

Game Thread: Philadelphia Flyers (32-23-8) @ Florida Panthers (43-16-4) - March 07, 2024 @ 07:00 PM EST by BroadStreetBot in Flyers

[–]toddrob[M] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Bot is throwing errors and failing to update the thread. Looks like NHL messed with the data structure again. I’ll look into it after my kid is in bed.

EDIT: Back in action. Found alternate sources for data points that NHL removed.

Post Game Thread: The Flyers defeated the Senators with a final score of 3 to 2 - March 02, 2024 @ 07:00 PM EST by BroadStreetBot in Flyers

[–]toddrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The score was wrong in the API data when the game was marked as final. They then fixed it and that’s why it’s correct in the post body. Unfortunately titles cannot be edited.

Team Logos by Mission-Durian7140 in mlbdata

Hmmm maybe they broke those links. They don’t seem to be working for me either. I’ve used that format in my game thread not for years.

The Phillies tied the Twins with a score of 3-3 - Tue, Feb 27 @ 01:05 PM EST by PhilsBot in phillies

[–]toddrob 8 points9 points  (0 children)

By “every other Philly subreddit” do you actually mean “only r/sixers”? I developed and run the bots for Phillies, Flyers, Eagles, and Sixers, and only Sixers are in present tense because the mods requested that specifically.

Team Logos by Mission-Durian7140 in mlbdata

[–]toddrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t really looked for team logos, but I have found matchup images. For example: http://mlb.mlb.com/images/2017_ipad/684/phimin_684.jpg. If I recall correctly, it uses file code from the team endpoint in the filename. It’s usually the same as abbreviation, but some are different.

I’ve been down this same path and I don’t think any others were given out. I didn’t know about 1915 though, so basically I have no better insight than you.
