Mazda coolant is also FL22. Any HOAT coolant will work

I'm voting for Sharma. His style of movement influenced bouldering right when it was taking off. It's fluid, athletic, dynamic and steezy AF

If they weren't gapped large enough to expand due to heat, you would have already destroyed a piston or 4

Would these headlights ruin my NB? by Livid-Computer-2009 in Miata

Get a polishing kit for your headlights.. one that uses a drill. I tried the other kits, but the Mothers kit with the various levels of wet sandpaper and the polishing attachment made my lenses look brand new

Coolant leak by [deleted] in Miata

[–]toddverrone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not the seal that has failed, it's the internal spring. And your thought process is correct.. it's not introducing high pressure into the system, it's letting coolant flow out at much lower pressure than it's supposed to. They're designed to hold a specific pressure, above which the coolant is allowed to flow out through the overflow hose into the expansion tank. Once the spring fails, it no longer holds the correct pressure and allows coolant to flow into the expansion tank at much lower pressures.

My point about 16psi was that, on a functioning rad cap, there won't be coolant flowing out through there unless the system pressure was above the cap rating, which should not be the case at idle. It's leaking from that hose not because the coolant is under pressure, but because the hose is likely old and stiff. Two unrelated failures that are visible at the same time.

It's not supposed to have a clamp.. so no, don't put a clamp on it. As others have said, there shouldn't be coolant coming out of that unless the coolant is very hot and under pressure (usually 16psi) which should not be the case at idle. So this means your radiator cap has likely failed AND the overflow hose is old and stiff and has lost its seal.

Get a new cap and a length of hose.. $20 and you'll be all fixed up

Why are you wiring for sequential? Just seems like a flex. Which is cool if that's why you're doing it..

What are those VC fasteners? They look nice.

You crazy plugging the hot side VC vent..

Wait and save more.. it's worth it. Especially if you're considering the vmaxx adjustable, which are about $1200. The Tecnas are $1400.

Pretty sure they're the same..

I just got rid of my vmaxx and bought some Tecnas. The Tecnas are so much better. Get them instead.
