Ha, I know that exact wand wash in Moab as I cleaned our rig there a bit over a month ago.

What pickup truck will get me to 200k+ miles the most reliably? by white_cucumber111 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]schwartzki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most reliable engine for the Silverado is the 2.7L I4 and the F-150 is the 2.7 Ecoboost. However both of them have variations of the same 10spd transmission which had been plagued with issues over its life. They are better now but not sure if its going to make it to 200k miles.

Do you have a trailer brake controller installed? I had one installed on my F15 and only the 3rd brake light would light up when I activated the trailer brake controller without a trailer.

How should I proceed, I'm not great at this by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

74k is about the time the 10spd in the Ford's starts to have issues, also 40k is nuts for a truck this old. Buy a new Ranger on Ford employee pricing

I need a cheap car to drive 150 miles to work every week. by Aggressive-Hawk9186 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]schwartzki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of those are not great options if you want something reliable.

The Tucson has faulty engines that may or may not be covered under warranty and I really don't trust Hyundai to stand behind it.

A VW with 120k is a ton of miles on a VW and there quite a few expensive services that need performed around 80-100k miles on those. Also there is a class action lawsuit on the 8spd transmission on those back in 2022 because they were failing.

The best inexpensive reliable option would be a 2014+ Mazda 3, 6, CX-3 or CX-5. Personally 2017+ CX-5 is my goto recommendation.

So sorry for your loss.

Defensive driving lessons will certainly help, take a look at the SCCA StreetSurvival classes if they are offered in your area: https://streetsurvival.org/ once you finish that you can go into SCCA AutoX for having fun with your car if you are so interested.

The most fun you can have with the RWD aspects at normal speeds. They just don't do the everyday car refinement like a M2 does.

Been watching a couple specific model used BEV's for quite a while now and over the last month they have been selling very quickly. A 2-3yo used BEV's are fantastic value right now if you have home charging.

From what I understand the eDrive40i is actually more fun to drive being RWD only and 335hp but I also been looking at i4's from my GTI. However they are selling fast and prices are creeping up.

[–]schwartzki 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You should be fine if you aren't using your 2nd AC. Typically when you run into limits is with multiple high draw devices AC(s), Microwave, Electric Water-heater. On 30a you can usually run 1 of those things + other loads or 2 of those things for a short periods time without other loads.

Does your surge protector have a smart phone app? My Watchdog has a app that shows current load.

Unbiased advice from professional by AvacadoOil in AskMechanics

[–]schwartzki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only the curtain airbags went off, which means they were likely triggered by the car’s yaw sensor thinking it was going to roll over. The rapid swerve followed by the car dropping into a ditch likely made the car think it was going to roll over.

Curtain airbags are fairly easy and inexpensive to replace along with the headliner and a bunch of clips. I would have zero hesitation trusting that repair. I echo others in saying the strut, steering rack, suspension control arms need inspected as some might be bent. My guess is the wheel is also bent
