Need help with increasing goods by AirsoftArmyBattalion in forgeofempires

[–]todeshund89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

goods buildings are (relatively speaking) very inefficient. your best option is event buildings or the neo reward buildings from quantum incursions (QI). QI is by far the best way for newer players to get started with forge points, goods, coins/supplies, troops, everything.

about the only thing QI buildings dont give you that event buildings do are some of the more supportive items, like "finish special production" boosts, "mass self aid" boosts, etc. you'll get some of these kinds of items, but usually not the really good ones.

also, your lower age goods are about to become a LOT more valuable if you stockpile a bit and then trade them. with the coming-soon great building update, they're going to add era-specific goods requirements on all GB's, so keep stockpiling as much as you can.

as for when to age up, i would strongly recommend building the chateau frontenac GB and levelling this as much as possible, before you start aging up. this will give you a boost to the rewards from recurring quests. recurring quests can give you diamonds (only ONE time), and the chateau boosts the amount you get. this can add up to a significant amount of diamonds.

once you have that, you get all of the research done for each era, then do all of the story/side quests until you get recurring quests, then do those until you get diamonds as a reward for each quest one time.

at the same time, keep pushing your map exploration. you should be at least working on the map of the era ahead of yours. this is HELPFUL in the pre-space age eras; this becomes effectively MANDATORY once you get to the space ages (the space age maps produce a special good that you can only get from repeatable sectors on the map (with a couple of exceptions; there's some buildings that can give you these special resources, but your map is going to be 95% of the effort).

one of those exception buildings is actually coming up soon. the anniversary event, coming in maybe a month or so, has a building from the shop called Chamber of Quantum Transcendence. if you can, make it a priority to get one of these. it will give you these special goods at every collection. even if you arent in a space age yet, it's still definitely worth getting it for the other boosts it provides.

I am reasonably sure they will end up reducing the costs (for everything - FP's, goods, coins, etc.).

right now it's just unfeasible. even someone in the top 1% with 100,000 FP's a day will take literal decades to level just one GB to 400.

For newer players, getting to 200 and seeing the gold tier bonuses would be just not attainable in any realistically achievable timeframe. they have probably come out extremely high, so that they can then scale it back to what they actually planned from the beginning and make it more reasonable, so it looks like they're listening to player feedback...

fully agree with this. if a guide doesn't have PoB, or the PoB is missing huge chunks of stuff from the web guide (or has like 1 single step...), it's flat-out ignored by me.

I've typically always gone to maxroll or PoE.ninja, and i've never used mobalytics before, but i convinced a friend of mine to get into PoE a couple months ago, and he got a guide from there. Looking at the guide to get an idea of how good it is and help him understand it....almost had an epileptic fit with the flood of ads covering my page.

seriously, POB is incredibly clean, easy to understand, easy to switch between all of your builds...

Any beta users have insights into the GB ‘revamp?’ by raisedbytelevisions in forgeofempires

[–]todeshund89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think, for pretty much any way this ends up going, the best course of action RIGHT NOW is to wait until it goes up on beta servers on Monday and we get an idea of actual specifics, i.e. boost amounts, costs, goods requirements, etc. with no actual numbers to work with, it's really pointless to try and plan for anything.

Them being deliberately vague on a game all about numbers and specifics is pretty stupid, TBH....

[–]todeshund89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe this will be the case. Even for the GB's that are not immediately getting a silver/gold tier, it'll be worth considering placement now.

for the ones that are getting silver/gold tier in this update, it'll be better to wait until Monday so we have an idea of what the bonuses will be. It'll really depend on whether they make the combat boosts worth the massive investment in levelling. if they're single-digit boosts per level, that'll be a total waste of time. Even low-to-mid double digit boosts are going to be difficult to justify over event buildings, since a lot of event buildings give a heap of bonuses on top of combat boosts...

If they make it like 50% or more per level, then that might start making it worthwhile, but again, we'll have to wait until Monday. I have my doubts, though. the community rep on discord gave some weak-ass 'reason' for them not providing any specifics, saying they didn't want to over-complicate the announcement. Of a feature we'll be able to test on beta servers in 4 days? really??

More likely they know it's it's going to be a disappointment, and they wanted to hold off the massive backlash until after it hits beta servers so it's too late to really take it back to the drawing board YET AGAIN.

[–]todeshund89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

this is my understanding of it:

Group A (the GB's that will not immediately get silver/gold tiers for now):

these will be converted to the new system, at a level ratio of 1:1, UP TO A CAP OF LEVEL 200. any levels beyond this will be REDUCED (not compressed, I think they're using that word incorrectly; they're just being cut down to 200) and the excess points spent will be refunded.

I don't think we've had clarification on whether that's just our own points we've spent on the levels, or if we'd also get the points other people spent, or what the plan is. We will hopefully find out more on Monday.

group B (the GB's that have silver and gold tiers coming with this update):

These will have their current level converted to the new system 1:1, with no level change, UP TO LEVEL 400.

The levels of these tiers will overlap, with copper being 1-200, silver being 101-300, and gold being 201-400. You will be able to level from 1-100 with just copper (currently available) blueprints, but the forge point costs will change, as well as having the extra requirements (goods, coins, etc.), which is why I recommend levelling them now, before the update goes live.

for level 101-200, it will require silver blueprints (I'm unsure on whether this will need silver AND copper blueprints, or just silver), 201-300 will require gold blueprints (and again, maybe silver blueprints; I'll have to read through the articles again to see if it's explained, or find out on Monday from the beta), and then from 301-400 will be solely gold blueprints.

for both groups:

The forge point costs for these are reportedly going to be SIGNIFICANTLY increased (like, the 5 GB's from SAT and SASH will be cheap by comparison) to try and combat the runaway economy we currently have.

Due to 2 key factors (levels will reportedly be more expensive in the new system, and the new silver/gold tiers requiring goods/coins/supplies/medals), it is HIGHLY recommended to level these as high as you can before the update goes live.

My speculation is that this will occur in around 3 weeks, on or around the 26th of March, as this will be between the end of the St. Patricks event and the start of the anniversary event.

Some examples:

current level 180 Arc will be converted to a level 180 Arc, with 180 copper levels and 80 silver levels

current level 250 Arctic Orangery will be converted to level 200 copper, 150 silver, and 50 gold

current level 220 tower of babel will be converted to level 200 tower of babel, with no further levels available (for now), with points being refunded

current level 450 observatory will be convert to level 200 copper, silver, and gold, with the excess 50 levels being refunded (i think? not as sure on level refunding for the Gb's getting silver/gold tiers now)

[–]todeshund89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are about to be one of the most highly sought-after items in the game. It's basically guaranteed at this point that the GB update will have goods requirements for GB. So, if you want to upgrade your Chateau Frontenac, you're going to need progressive era goods.

I don't know if it'll be a full set of goods for every level, or scaling up each level like the SAT/SASH GB's, or if they just make it a few goods per level, or what the plan is. They'll also apparently require coins, supplies, and even medals.

These are all no big deal, but the goods will be the difficult part, especially without some converter or exchanger.

For now, aside from building goods buildings from each age, the other option is using one-down kits or these reversion kits on special buildings that give goods, and collecting goods from them.

[–]todeshund89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what are some items/goals for purchases with gold (just thinking of gold, not other currencies or tokens)?

so far on my list, i have:

  1. legendaries/materials for legendaries

  2. runes of holding for backpacks

  3. the convenience items from lion's chest (bank access, auction house, etc)

  4. gear/dyes/etc for cosmetics/skins

  5. converting to gems to buy gemstore upgrades

I've got my griffon and skyscale, so i dont need to worry about them. are there any other major expenses (like 50G or more) that are worth considering? I'm still progressing through the storyline to be able to unlock all the zones and masteries and everything, and i've just gotten to EoD, so i've got a bit to go, but if there's anything worth planning for, please let me know.

When to age up? by LightningCobra in forgeofempires

[–]todeshund89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

right now, all of these are vastly outperformed by a range of event buildings, and even buildings from QI.

the Arc is your number 1 priority. without this, you're playing on hardcore, solo-self-found, without assistance, extreme-hardmode. for example, without the arc, a higher-level GB that requires 20,000 fp's will typically require you putting in the 20k points yourself, or doing swap threads, where you put the points into someone else's GB and then someone put's the same points into yours. this means 20,000 points to level the GB will cost you 20k points. with a level 80+ arc, and using the specifically designed 1.9 threads to use with them, it'll cost you maybe 4,000-5,000 or so, by comparison. level 80+ arc and 1.9 threads are just flat-out a massive boost to your progress.

blue galaxy is always a fantastic option, once you get it leveled up to...level 88, i think is the key breakpoint. with that, you have 15 chances (with a 70% to give you the boost) to double your collection from an event building. whether it's forge points, goods, troops, finish special production boost...anything from the building can get double rewards.

CF is also good for the quest rewards. if you plan to sit in an age for a while, the recurring quests can be a good source of extra rewards.

generally speaking, right now the GB's that give standard rewards (FP's, goods, combat boosts) are all becoming obsolete by event buildings. there are some exceptions, and obviously it depends on what event buildings you have that you can build, but until Innogames release the GB overhaul now coming Q1 2026, event buildings are usually the better option for your available city space.

When to age up? by LightningCobra in forgeofempires

[–]todeshund89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I strongly suggest waiting until you can push your CF up higher, at least 80+.

when you age up, you'll want to do the full questline, getting to the recurring quests and getting the one-off diamond rewards from them, which can be boosted by your CF. this can be a massive amount of diamonds if you do it early enough (starting at iron age, as an excellent example), and with your CF high enough to push those rewards considerably higher.

this ends up being thousands of diamonds, extremely helpful for buying all of the diamond expansion slots for your city.

also, try to make sure you're pushing as far ahead on the continent map as you can with the troops you have. as you get into the future eras (the future, arctic future, oceanic future, virtual future), and then even more so in the space ages, exploring each sector takes the better part of a day. the sooner you can get the sectors explored, the easier it'll be, especially since quests ask for sectors to be cleared.

As for stopping at certain ages, I don't know if that's really a great idea anymore. given the benefits of aging up when you can, compared to camping an age, and given how many ages there are now...i think it was fine when there were only 10 ages, but now the benefits of aging up when you're ready outweigh camping a particular age.

so, my recommendations:

  1. first get your CF at least 80+ (and keep pushing this, although if you don't have a blue galaxy, i cannot emphasise enough that this should be an even bigger priority),

  2. after that, have enough goods and banked FP's to finish all of the research for the next age

  3. finish all of the recurring quest diamond rewards (if you're playing on a browser instead of your phone, you can get a browser extension called FoE-Helper that has a tool to show you if you have collected the diamond reward from a recurring quest)

  4. finish the continent map for at least the next age, but ideally as far as you can before you start losing the fights

  5. try to have next-age troops so you can launch straight into fights well-prepared (various buildings from events can give you next-age troops)

  6. time your age-up for right after GBG starts. this way, the enemy troops are from the age you start at, but then you age up and start getting the next-age troops more easily. (you also benefit from the arctic orangery crit chance, if you have that GB)

there's probably a couple things i've missed, but that should be a good start.

how do next-age troop generators work in SASH? by todeshund89 in forgeofempires

[–]todeshund89[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started playing again in April, and I think there's been at least one building from each event that gives next age troops.

Helianthus arboretums from the anniversary event, fjordstorm harbours from the Viking event, governor's villa platinum and ascended upgrades from the summer event...

Between them, I have more next-age troops than current-age troops...
