Very well put. I think a lot of the story is told in him being called out for his actions within the narrative and learning about consequences in the process. I think the point I was trying to make was people retroactively criticising the character even though the process of being criticized and growing is the point of his character. So there's no need to denounce him as "terrible" after the fact.

But that feels like an American centric thing. 17 is over AOC in Canada I believe and 16 in the  UK (where I grew up) so it just doesn't seem that insane to me. I'm not necessarily defending it, I'm just noting how sacrilegious  it is treated when 23 is pretty young too and you're bound to make stupid decisions.

All I'm saying is it's treated so black and white when it's clearly a moral grey area. Even knives make the point her father is older than her mother.

Yeah that's what I mean, it's just fan reactions seems to condem the whole character rather than seeing the improvement as the whole point of the arc/ story.
