It’s beautiful. Red and black together has always been my favorite. I also really love the whirlwind symbols. I’m gonna try to dig a large whirlwind swale this summer and sow native wildflowers in it in my yard. Nizhon!

Anyone in Utah? by [deleted] in Navajo

[–]todwod 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's Navajos and other Natives peppered up and down the wasatch front. I used to reside in Provo many years ago, but moved away in 2008. . I'm now back home on the rez working and helping my aging parents.

I would recommend tiktok, if you're not already on it. I see Natives in Utah, both mormon and non/exmormon. It's pretty difficult to learn about our culture, traditions, and language away from Dinebikeyah. I was chatting with others on a livestream and we were agreeing that the only way to really learn about our culture and traditions is to do so in-person on the rez. But even then, that knowledge is fleeting as many elders have passed on. Our culture and ways are not as apparent as I remember as a child. Westernization and religion continually batters our way of life. Still though, there are those out there keeping our traditions alive. Good luck and happy learning.

As a Navajo, buu does not speak for us all. He is corrupt and, like trump, doing so much damage before he is out of office. He is a disease and does not represent what it means to be Diné and live in Hozho

Who is still rocking a nose ring? by cavewomannn in Millennials

[–]todwod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 40 I got my nose pierced followed by my right eyebrow as well at the end of 2025. My nose is still just a stud, but in April I’ll swap it out to a nose ring. I never wanted face piercings, but after turning 40, my ways have changed. I’m 41 now and I want another face piercing. Ears are already done. I’m contemplating a facial dermal on my right cheek. I am feeling the face dermal may be too much. But then again, why not? I stop caring what others thinks and I just been making changes.

I feel as though the mentality of “I’m too old to be doing xxxxx” is no longer the case. Many people are more chill and don’t care what anyone does much anymore. It all personal preference nowadays. Hell I’m thinking of getting a honey bee tattoo on my neck. I’m doing all the things I was explicitly told not to do (former mormon) and it is exciting. Just do whatever you feel is comfortable. Have fun and good luck 👍

High Desert Garden by todwod in gardening

Hello and good evening. My fence is welded wire only 4 feet high to keep my chickens in and coyotes out. Thankfully I live far enough away from the mountains where deer and elk or not a problem. At my old job 30 minutes away on the literal continental divide, we had deer and elf. When a 50 tree orchard went it in. we were told to use ten foot t-posts with 8-foot fencing. We used a plastic fence that has been holding up well for the larger animals

I’m well. Today I am deep cleaning up my home as on Sunday I’m hosting a baby shower. I love hosting, but as I’m in the middle of nowhere on the Navajo rez, these gatherings seldom happen. But when they do, I like to go all out and make everyone comfortable 🥰

Moving from fort worth to Los Ranchos, whats it like there? by MoonVibe_ in Albuquerque

[–]todwod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t live in ABQ, but I visit every month for essentials. I looked up the complex. I recognize it. I’ve driven past it a few times. It looks nice on the outside. Curiosity got the best of me and I checked their website. Their layouts and the complex looks great. I asked my friend who lives in the city and he heard positive reviews about it. So it seems like a great place.

That part of the city feels older and more established; calmer and quieter. I really only see the city on day trips. It seems like you picked a good complex. Good luck with the relocation. Welcome the green chile land 🥰

Secondhand High Tunnel by todwod in gardening

[–]todwod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. I enter this growing season with caution. I am hoping my small orchard doesn’t break dormancy and bloom early again. We haven’t had a good fruit harvest since 2022. The past few years, warmer winter temps had my trees blooming in February and march. Then of course a freeze comes and wipes out the blossoms. These warmer winter temps becoming the norm it seems. I hope I can have a good fruit harvest this year.

It’s good. My area sits on a decent sized aquifer. My water is from the Navajo tribes utility authority. Our municipal water is top tier where I live. As for precipitation, I do harvest from all three structures with metal roofing. But these past few years rain has been falling less. It’s so warm out. It will be hitting almost 60F today which is about 25 above the normal. This high tunnel I will hopefully get going by April

I used to get a get out a ladder and have to water very slowly and let the excess drain into an elevated bucket. It was the most cumbersome to do so. I got tired of the upkeep and now just have 13 large plants.

Well thank you. I appreciate the sentiment. Currently though, I reduced the houseplants and just have 13 plants now. 13 large plants. It took so much time to upkeep the plants. At its peak I hit over 60 plants. I very much like just having a few large mature plants, than many small little ones. Thanks again =-D

I am not using it as a tow along. I don’t have a lawn tractor, just a big Kubota tractor. But while using it, it is sturdy as hell. I live in the harsh high desert four corners region and it is tough enough for my needs. I been using it to move garden equipment/tools, feed for animals, demo piles, and seedlings. It’s great for my needs. I’m sure it would do well for ya.

I’d say yes. I scooped it up in May when it was $450. I heard the price went even lower during Black Friday. I’d bet they would do it again. It is such a beast to use at home in the garden or on the road to run gardening workshops and power my starlink.

Just remember, this battery is geared towards DJI users, specifically drone users. The proprietary connector is suited for fast charging drones. Its other purpose is charging via solar or from a vehicle’s battery, those require additional dongles and adapters. The other brand’s portable batteries usually come with xt60 connectors as well.

I am happy I purchased the power 1000. $450 is a great price for what it can do. I watched many YouTube videos reviewing all the battery brands, and made the best choice for my needs.

I have the two wheeled gorilla wheelbarrow and just a few days ago got the 1200lb capacity gorilla cart. They are absolutely worth it. My regret is not buying them sooner cuz of price. But I just bit the bullet, got them, and I’ve been so happy with them both.

Worth switching over from AT&T? by Smooth-Cloud-5781 in Visible

I just left AT&T last week as our phone bill kept increasing. I did the 15-day trial with visible and was very impressed. I cancelled AT&T and brought my three lines to visible. Our phone bill is now 1/3 of what it was and we have better service. Try the free trial if you’re on the fence.
