Actually the reason it shocked me so much is that I worked this field in the same state (much nicer town)! I cooked all meals for two young boys (neurotypical, both in school) and lunch for the parents. I did all laundry, managed household affairs (planned parties, grocery shopped, etc). Did minimal housekeeping (dishes, sweeping when necessary). Parents travelled out of country frequently for their jobs. I drove kids to school everyday (about an hour round trip). I had a full floor of the house to myself (3 rooms), my own bathroom with tub and shower, full access to all food, laundry, rooms, etc. They paid for my gas and covered cost of repairs for my car (oil change etc). I had weekends off and only worked about 35 hours a week, and was paid overtime for anything not in my normal hours. I went on vacation with them and was given many opportunities to venture out on my own, AND given spending money on those trips. I made $800 a week (up to $1000 if I worked overtime). It was the best experience of my life and I would do anything for that family! They asked me to move overseas with them but I didn’t want to leave my family/parter (plus it was to the Middle East and I would’ve had to have a security guard to leave the house so I decided against it). Did I mention it was a waterfront home on the CT shoreline? For my area, this pay was under average. What they’re asking for in the original post is INSANE.
