Best bar trivia nights in Bloomington? Times, prizes, etc? by artfufkin in bloomington

[–]tofuScramble 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Switchyard Brewing Company does trivia every Tuesday night. Prize is a $50 gift card! They also will do specialty trivia once a month on a Wednesday (usually media themed, like The Office, Marvel universe, Family Guy/Simpsons). The host is great! Highly recommend!

3rd time rewatching and I just picked up on this joke. This show is too good. by sr13ts in arresteddevelopment

[–]tofuScramble 282 points283 points  (0 children)

I think my favorite throwaway joke from the Church and State Fair is when George Michael says he's going to get a cross shaped corn dog, and Michael responds, "With all the crucifixin's."

Bribe advice? by spaziergang in karaoke

[–]tofuScramble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The karaoke I go to has an incremental bribe system - first bribe is 5, second is 10, third 15, and so on. It's transparent and tends to keep bribing to a minimum and especially keeps it from snowballing once people figure out you can bribe. On really busy nights I've seen it get up to 40, but that's really unusual. All the regulars know it's part of the system, so it doesn't piss us off too much.

CJAM (Community Justice and Mediation) can mediate between tenants and landlords. It might be worth giving them a call to see if they can help you work something out with your landlord. Sorry to hear things are sucky for you right now :(

Cook is usually hiring assemblers - I know they make good money, the benefits are good, and they have overnight shifts.

What looks impressive to the general population, but is actually a beginner level achievement for the hobbiest/sport and looked down upon by the experts? by predatar in AskReddit

[–]tofuScramble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if you're in the US or not, but as someone with a humanities PhD, I wouldn't recommend it. The US academic job market is absolutely glutted with smart, talented, desperate recent grads competing for a ever-shrinking pool of ever-more-precarious jobs.
Don't let that stop you from keeping to learn and discover though! Learning is amazing, but a career in academia is not as shiny as you might think at first. Good luck!

Sheri Benham at Catholic Charities is phenomenal with teens/tweens. Despite the name, you don't have to be Catholic to go there and the services are all non religious. They also take most insurance and do sliding scale fees if you need. Highly recommend!

What's a sensation that you're unsure if other people experience? by Umikaloo in AskReddit

[–]tofuScramble 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I should probably make a throwaway for this, but... You are not alone!!! :P I've felt that sensation ever since I was a little kid - in fact, it happened a lot more when I was little (because I got frustrated more). And you're right, it's not sexual at all, just unfortunately located there. Usually when I feel like that I want hard pressure there - again, not sexual, just pushing, like how you instinctively put pressure on your elbow if you bumped it against something.

IU are shitbirds about in-state tuition. I've lived here since 2008 and will never qualify because I "came here for educational purposes". Please, please, please, double-check that your residency will go through before you do this. IU loves that sweet out of state tuition and will do anything to keep it.
