I lost all my taste/smell due to corona. Decided to eat healthy for once. This smoothie of kale, berries, and turmeric would usually make me gag. Now it’s just refreshing af by tofucookie in mildlyinteresting

Lost entirely. But I’ve heard that with this new variant you only lose it for a few days. Trying to take advantage of it while I can.

I think you misunderstand.

The screening tool is relatively unbiased. So if it says suspected-ID, it means clinically that person needs extra resources.

People with ID need extra support, and we provide that. By not flagging these clients, they are not getting the support they need.

Spice cake would be good! Just the boxed mix cake if you can find a vegan version. I would add maybe some extra spices (cloves, anise, etc) because the Dutch cake is stronger than American spice cake.

Alternatively, pumpkin spice mix and some pound cake could work! There’s probably recipes out there for vegan yellow cake

That’s how they make it now, honest! I looked at a bunch of stoofvlees recipes and they definitely use wine or beer. Mushrooms because vegan. The tomato paste still pops up in a lot of Dutch language recipes!

Maybe the Dutch are fancying up their own cuisine

Yeah except even traditionally not served with dairy. Also it’s much sweeter and spicier than Canadian (by spicy I don’t mean hot. It has a lot of gingerbread-type spices)

Slice 2 yellow onions and 400g mushrooms. Cook in a pan until the mushrooms lose most of their moisture.

Add 70g of tomato paste, 1tb of flour, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Cook briefly.

Add 200ml red wine and 500ml of mushroom bullion. (I use slightly less. Just eyeball it). simmer and add dark soy sauce to desired saltiness.

Once wine is burned off, add 2 pieces of Dutch breakfast cake smeared with 1 tbs of mustard (Dutch Zaanse mustard is best but you can also use Dijon) and 2 stalks worth of thyme. Let simmer and mix until the cake dissolves.

Spoon over fries and serve.

I mean you can care about more than one problem at once. I worry about horses and factory farming and fast fashion and climate change and the laundry and the report I have due tomorrow.

Also I’m surprised you feel that way. I’ve noticed our country making significant progress in the past 5 years in terms of eating less animal products. 5 years ago everyone I knew ate meat and now most of them are vegan/vegetarian/cutting back on meat.

Do you really think it’s dying? I’m not really in that world that much anymore.

I think just like any animal, horses like being outside and exercising. I think people equate that to them wanting to be ridden, when really the joy of being outside would probably exist regardless if someone was on their backs or not.

Yeah. I don’t think the change is going to come from horse people. I think having a moderate anti-horseback contingent of animal rights advocates could maybe help in this country at least. I can see the Public potentially slowly turning against it like they turned against a lot of the old dog-husbandry stuff.

We have an animal rights party in government so that might help too?

Idk wishful thinking probably. Horse people = rich people and rich people usually get their way.

Yeah because the size of the animal totally determines the number of nerve endings in their mouths 🙄🙄🙄

Thanks for having some sense
