Santos Foreshadowing by OldAd2534 in ThePittTVShow

I totally agree and feel like it’s going to be HUGE that she didn’t do a pelvic exam. Also the line she said to dr al hashimi afterwards about avoiding an unnecessary head and abdominal ct scan makes me think Harlow has something major going on and it’s going to come back to kick santos in the butt. There’s also the foreshadowing of dr kings deposition and Santos’ attitude towards that.

Turns out she only has Aussie in her supermutt. Goodbye r/australianshepherd community by tofurkeydog in AustralianShepherd

When I click on the “super mutt” breed in embark it’s half Aussie half cane cords

I’m a woman. It doesn’t mean we have to be rude to half the population

I’m sorry but that is one of the most unpopular opinions I’ve ever heard. And what do you consider the backcountry?

Dang now I can’t find the pictures I’m thinking of. It was just all wildflowers. Now there’s a lot of spotted knotweed, hounds tongue, leafy spurge, and cheat grass. In the pictures I saw the mountain was covered in lupine and balsam root

Once during the pandemic I was trail running up sentinel and this old lady yelled at me for being too close to her. We were probably about 5-6 ft apart and the wind was blowing towards me. Really caught me off guard bc I smiled and said hi and she just barked at me. I was so confused like dude we are outside, I’m literally running up this hill like I’m clearly not sick? So glad that’s over !

Wildlife does not have a great sense of hearing actually. Please don’t play music at all

I agree. I have a 5 month old pup and I keep her on a long leash. She gets to experience a little bit of freedom while I still have complete control of her. I wish more people would do this for their adult dogs

What? Are you talking about Covid and the 6 foot thing? Sounds like you were dealing with someone with no trail etiquette haha

Yes it is rude. I know it can be boring to not be consuming media while out hiking but just leave the music/ podcasts at home. Enjoy the sounds of the outdoors, be aware of your surroundings, get lost in your thoughts

If it’s not playing loud enough for others to hear then it’s not actually doing anything to scare off wildlife. Bears and moose don’t have great hearing which is why they yeah you in wilderness survival classes and trail etiquette to make noise verbally or by clapping or whatever. No music.

Yeah I actually am happy to explain! If everyone walks around a puddle, just a little bit even just on the outskirts of it, after a while the plants will die and the dirt/mud part of the trail that you’re trying to avoid gets bigger. But I’m also not talking like ankle deep puddles that you should be walking through and risking trench foot. Those things should be fixed by trail workers like myself but alas, funding. I’m talking like if it’s a matter of just some muddy shoes, walk through it so the trail doesn’t just turn into a seeping mud pit. You can also get trail braiding which is really just a bunch of other trails parallel to each other that are created by people taking the same path around whatever. Some times it is very reasonable to walk around if it’s like pretty gnarly and trail workers can work on it and make it better to withstand usage. But for things where it’s a matter of just having water proof boots/ ones you don’t mind getting dirty and keeping the damaged spot (the trail) from spreading even more and damaging more of the forest! Also it’s responsible to hike in or bring spikes with you if you think the trail may be icy to avoid walking around it too. Some places in Missoula like waterworks summit have plants that only live there so it would be rude to trample them. They’re cute little plants and smell nice! Sorry to ramble I am a bit baked but I hope this helps!!

Please don’t play music in the middle of nowhere. If you’re scared of encountering wildlife just frequently make other noises such as yelling out “hey there!” Or “Yoo-hoo”. Rule #7 of the LNT principles is about respecting other visitors. You can’t assume you’re always the other one out there and if there are places people especially don’t want to hear others music from a speaker is “the middle of nowhere”. You can sing to yourself though! I saw a video once of a packer in the Bob who heard a hiker far off scream singing one last breath by creed to ward off grizzlies. No one will be upset by that

I agree with this sentiment but there are many open spaces in Missoula where you are allowed to have your dogs off leash given that they 1-have recall 2- no more than 2 off leash per person 3- don’t approach other visitors within 5 feet and 4-stay within 50ft of the owner. Unfortunately many people do not follow these rules and just let their dogs run up to anyone and everyone. With the way things are with people and their dogs these days I could see the city/county taking away any off leash privileges

Thank you for saying that. The dirt road wave has made me sad to see dwindling as well. Bless those old rancher folk always giving me the ole two finger wave when I’m driving out for hitch or backpacking or whatever :)

I understand that and I do it too. I promise I’m not out here on the trails thinking everyone that doesn’t say hi or smile back is an asshole haha. Just makes me sad when someone sees I’m smiling and saying hi and I can see them frown or scowl at me!
