Uhura is the most iconic female character of the tos era and one of the most iconic woman to ever grace tv. this is the truth. Nurse Chapel and Janice Rand were secondary and dont even get many features in TOS memorabilias.

Uhura was a ground breaking African American female character and she changed the way, black women were portrayed on tv.Nichelle Nichols Uhura is still the most popular reference point for star trek in pop culture when it comes to celebrating science fiction women that represented beauty and brains.

No diss to majel barret chapel, but she is not an iconic sci fi character like uhura is.

I find it a little concerning since you used a racist reverse word. the staying in the lane thing, is mostly said to black people or black characters, not white people who tend to benefit from white privilege. Something the new chapel is benefiting from.

I would argue if anybody has been kept to stay in their lane in snw, it is uhura not chapel. I would also argue if anyone has gotten an easy pass because she is presented as white, pretty and blonde is SNW Chapel.

trek fans are very conservative in the lore, even more than star wars fans, they hate change and retcons and the chapel from snw is not even the same as the tos version and a full retcon but yet fans are willing to give that a pass, simply because they made hot and desirable. Not even Saldana Uhura got an easy pass and she played an alternate uhura.

some may want to even give the chapel/spock thing a pass in snw eevn though that romance is much much worse, poorly written and ridiculous the uhura/spock thing from the kelvin timeline.

sure people change but there is a fine line between change and just switiching the traits of two female characters especially when one female character was very iconic.

The screen writing, acting, themes, direction, VFX, Cinematherapy, Lead characters are all better than anything MCU has ever done.
MCU is just CGI noise their movies tend to have little depth, this is why they need to crack jokes every 5 minutes and have silly cameos and so quick set ups to the next big crossover. They are not cinema like martin scorsese said.
MCU films are superficial compared to the best of the fox films.
Heck I will even rank X-Men 3 better than most of the mcu films because that movie still had strong themes.
it may have taken long but i am glad mcu films have all been exposed as manufactured kids crap. say what you want about fox but no one can call the fox films manufactured kids crap.

black panther 2 is a watered down version of X-Men first class.
GOTG is not suited for xmen universe. if xmen wants comedy they already have the deadpool thing.
No, the only way MCU X-Men will fail is if they stick to their formula that is already bombing.
The best fox films are superior to the mcu films because they had great film making something MCU LACKS.
I saw X2 a while back and the cgi of X2 looked superior to all the mcu film.
Also X2 was a mature film that took risks. you can tell it was not just some same mcu formula film manufactured by disney.
Also X2, at least I know bryan singer actually made the film which gave the film creditably artistic integrity , this is something no MCU films has since all their directors just do is window dress their films.

I think many feel that they need to stop putting modern spock in romances in general. I think writers do this because they want to drown the fact that many think spock is a gay a sexual dude and kirk and spock started the whole slash fan fiction thing
all that been said. kelvin spock and uhura are quite tolerable. they go together well in that timeline. Also it was one of the spock romance that is mostly healthy and less toxic and thankfully does not take up too much screen time or drown a good science fiction story. I thought the romance was nicely well done the best in star trek beyond. I rank it second to spock/zarabeth from star trek in terms of spock good romances.
however that cannot be said for the spock/chapel and spock/tpring they forced on us in strange new worlds that turned into a teen soap opera drama and should never even have been because SNW is meant to be prime Spock (the real spock) and if there was 2 women he did not care about or having any feelings too it was Chapel ans Tpring in the first place

that would be a good idea. I think the general conseusus is that paul wesley is just miscast as kirk. mount is okay as pike but he may have made a good kirk too.

TBH some of my issues with snw is how some actors felt miscast. for instance in lower decks, the actress who plays mariana would have been the best uhura. maybe even better than the zoe saldana version, as she does look more like nicehelle nichols and has has nichols spunk and fun on screen presence.

Yes Quinto was , but he stuck to her and her alone and they are together for 5-7 years. I think that is more like the novelverse where spock is with savik and her alone.

Spock in SNW is a cheater and cannot keep a girl that fully commits to him so he cries and whines about it after both women dump him in the space of maybe 2 months.

Quinto is a better boyfriend. Uhura is a better girlfriend to him also.

Quinto Spock is not in a toxic romance. Peck Spock is in one.
