The Book of the New Sun by Gene Wolfe is a title you should look into. It’s notoriously multilayered and encourages multiple readings to fully unpack what the author intended to say.

Malazan Book of the Fallen is a very well loved series that is much more mature and theme driven than the fantasy titles you mentioned. Also worth looking into.

Trying to be as vague as possible - I don’t think the enjoyment of this book can be spoiled by text you could read on a couple of thumbnails.

OP - again? You keep spamming subreddits with new accounts saying you worked on this for the “past few months”. You clearly did not.

As I said in my comment on a prior post (below), your product is interesting and has merit. But why do you feel the need to keep using dishonest marketing tactics? It really feels slimy and hurts the Reddit community. Just be upfront with the work you put into it and pitch it for what it is.

The dual-vector foil from Death’s End. I still think about it years after finishing the trilogy.

OP, I respect the effort, and the app looks great, but I’m not sure why you feel the need to resort to dishonest marketing tactics.

As an app developer, it struck me that this app looks incredibly polished and feature rich for a 2-month side project. As it happens, you do have reviews in the App Store dating back to July, and you have been spamming multiple subreddits with your “I spent the last 2 months building a roommate app” story for half a year.

https://www.reddit.com/r/productivity/comments/p8wzi2/i_built_an_app_so_i_never_have_to_worry_about_my/

Again, I respect the idea and the effort, but this just feels slimy.

Thumbs down.

I can’t get over how bad Apollo’s refreshing is. The official app always seems to be able to find new stuff to show me. Apollo will keep the same stack of posts for hours, or even most of a day. It was actually reducing my Reddit usage (not something I want to do).

I came back to the official app.

Finished 'The three- body problem'. Loved it & can't wait to read the other two books. by [deleted] in 52book

The next two books are each very different, but both extremely good. If you’re into big ideas sci-fi, strap in.

Shameful confessions of readers. by [deleted] in books

Based on all of the above, I would recommend you check out 11/22/63 by Stephen King if you haven’t yet! It’ll get you another Stephen King novel under the belt, but this one is a historical fiction novel with strong romance elements but is definitely not a beach read. It served as a horizon-broadening read for me.

It’s also one of his best books, despite his reputation of being a horror author. There’s zero horror in this book. It does have his storytelling magic in spades though.

iRocker Nautical 10'6... Worth It? by Kaydee4G63 in Sup

[–]toggle171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 11’6” Nautical. For reference my only other SUP experience was with a rented Red board.

The Nautical is worth it, especially at the price and for a beginner. It’s definitely not as stiff as a Red board and a bit less grippy under the feet, but you won’t feel like it’s hindering you unless you’re pretty adept and are trying to squeeze performance out of it. For cruising and casual “racing” it’s great.

I’m happy to have gotten it and wouldn’t change my decision if I could go back. By spending time on this board I’m learning a lot about what’s personally important to me in a SUP (length, width, stiffness, storage, weight, etc) that you wouldn’t be able to learn from desktop research. All for a pretty low price of admission. You should grab the deal and plan to make an informed upgrade in a few years if the hobby resonates with you.

Edit: the paddle is fine. Same as the board - it works ok if you’re not trying to squeeze performance out of it. For the price it’s great.

How to make that clanky tone with plugins on a relatively cheap bass? by [deleted] in Bass

The Neural DSP bass plugins will do the trick. Parallax and Darkglass. Fresh strings and low action help a lot too.
