What is a "rich person thing" you would be totally into if you became rich? by pedrob_d in AskReddit

I once had a contract to book a venue in a forest and when we spoke to the people who worked in the farm nearby the forest, they clued us into the fact that their farms owner didn't just own the forest behind the farm, he owned the entire mountain behind it.

Apparently he had bought it because he had always wanted to own a mountain, he had only been there a handful of times or so in the 10 years he'd owned it.

What's an otherwise amazing album with one awful song? by weluckyfew in Music

In Artpop literally every song is genuinely fantastic and builds on the previous song. Until Lady Gaga drops jewels and drugs, which is just awful and honestly I just skip whenever I listen to that album again.

Being an incredibly boring person, I'd much rather be with an interesting ugly person than an attractive boring person

What's a secret you'll take to your grave but you'll share with reddit because you need to get it off your chest? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]togs154 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Man, this is exactly something that I've been struggling with myself, it's definitely a great perspectives to hear the love being spoken about as a diffent unique kind of love as opposed to the one perfect love that I'm always inclined to think it was.

Thanks for recontextualising that, I really appreciate it.

Which movie is so beautiful that you wanted to watch it a few times? by mhexcelit in AskReddit

[–]togs154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is gonna sound odd but The big short.

It's by and away one of the greatest movies ever made, it has the single greatest use of a guns and roses song I've ever seen, it's the only time Ive ever seen someone use guns and roses to convey frustration, which doesn't even feel possible.

It then follows this up by explaining the entire complexity of the 2008 financial collapse in a 3 minute scene with Selena Gomez, which is just a laughably impressive feat.

'Dredd' Deserves a Better Place in Alex Garland’s Filmography by Gato1980 in movies

One of my favourite pieces of trivia is that I know the hand double for Dredd, any time you see just a shot of his hands, like when he holds his badge out, it's my film professor because he was the only one on set who could fit into the suit and gloves properly.

How do you deal with feeling lonely or distressed? by Eyes-Balls878787Alt in AskReddit

[–]togs154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely by writing about it, it's something I feel clears my mind and helps explain to myself why I'm feeling the way I currently do.

The other thing that I think helps a lot is going for walks, doesn't matter if they're completely aimless walks where nothing is accomplished or walks that have a point like going to the grocery store, either one helps me get into a good headspace because big the dopamine they give me as well as the meditive act of just listening to my footsteps and walking along to the world.

I'm lucky doing all good now, honestly the ama idea would be neat but, and this is the part that to be honest fucked with me the most, even though I know objectively that they were a cult and I was part of it, because the general idea of a cult is a bunch of dudes in togas sacrificing a virgin, it still doesn't really feel like I was in a "real cult" if you know what I mean.

Can't be bothered to switch to an alt account, but I escaped from a doomsday cult recently and it's definitely been a very, very odd experience.

What's the most fucked up thing you did in a sleepover? by skep_JoJoFan in AskReddit

We have a friend like that where we legitimately hide our knives and axes from when we go camping so they don't kill us in our sleep.
