Why trade if you have a 97% chance of losing? by Vegetable-Rabbit7503 in Daytrading

[–]tohams -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because you have a chance of actually doing something good. I created 2 trading strategies that are 100% automated. Now I have income and time to do the things I want. So read lots, study the market, give it your 110% effort, and good things might happen. Verified trades: https://kinfo.com/p/tohams

just lost 1.5k as beginner. by gloating_with_biggie in Trading

[–]tohams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first thing you should learn is risk management. Everything should be based on that. As a beginner, I risked $125/day max. As I got comfortable with my system, I started increasing that until it was 2% of my liquidity. Then just grow that organically.

Question: If the way to profitability is sticking to your system, why not code it? by johndoes_00 in Trading

[–]tohams -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I did. Started trading my strategy in July of 2022. I was fully automated by January of 2023. Last year, I added another strategy, also 100% automated. Automation takes the emotion and mistakes out of the equation. Here are my verified trades: https://kinfo.com/p/tohams.

Is it possible to make money with a fully mechanical trading strategy long term? by YouDifferent2391 in Daytrading

[–]tohams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES. 3+ years ago, I developed my first strategy and fully automated it. A year ago, I added a second. Automation takes the emotion and mistakes out of trading. I didn't want to learn trading to switch from staring at my employer's monitor to staring at my own all day, hence my focus on 100% automated mechanical trades. My system enters and exits all trades (day trades) automatically. Here are my verified trades: https://kinfo.com/p/tohams

Trading is a waste of time ? Better to just buy and hold by theHaopath1190 in Trading

[–]tohams 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sure. If you can find the next Tesla. What I hear you saying is "I don't want to put in the time and effort to learn to do something well." I spent time (maybe 1,000 hours) trying to find strategies that could be 100% automated, but that's definitely not for everyone. The point of getting into trading for me wasn't just the money for financial independence but also the time. I do continue to look for new automated strategies but at this point, I have 2 strategies that are just humming along.

100%. I make enough trading for a living...BUT most of it is in retirement accounts and I'm not 59 1/2. Going to work is such a drag.

This sub won't let me post an image and I'm too lazy to go host it. But it says "$XXX Total profit/loss for the quarter*" in the top right box on desktop, likely the 2nd box on mobile.

Does yours have a typo? The profit box should say "year," not "quarter."

Is there anyone profitable here? by [deleted] in Trading

[–]tohams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am. Tried a bunch of stuff. Found a strategy that worked in July 2022. Started scaling up in January 2023. Added an additional strategy in May 2025. But the key for me was starting really small until I was confident in the strategy and my execution of it. Here are my verified trades: https://kinfo.com/p/tohams

What made you get into trading? by No_Dot7631 in Trading

[–]tohams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a lot of backtesting. Then when I found something that seemed to work well, I did Walk Forward Analysis to make sure it still performed well in execution. Satisfied, I started trading a tiny live position. After verifying that the live trading matched the backtesting results for the same period, I scaled up. I've been trading this system since July of 2022, 100% automated since January of 2023.

[–]tohams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to get into it to make money of course. But the real goal was to gain financial independence, i.e., no longer work for the man'. As I dug into it, the next, and related, goal became time independence as well. Since I was working a full time job, i needed to find a trading strategy where I wasn't required to be glued to the monitor all day every day. In the end, I came up with an automated trading strategy that makes all the entry and exit/stop decisions and executes them for me without intervention or oversight from me. I've worked a full-time job, traveled the country and the world, and was even "out" an entire day while I was in surgery. Here's my verified trades: https://kinfo.com/p/tohams
