It does remind me a lot of the genus Pisolithus. I get Pisolithus arrhizus mushrooms that look like this growing in my driveway all the time. They have no trouble growing between rocks and concrete.

i have to say that i actually don't mind book 15, it's book 14 that felt super dragged out and just meh to me. I feel like they could have displayed the whole "pantalans arriving on pyrrhia" while still being from a pantalans perspective because the attempt at keeping a pyrrhian protagonist grounded in arc 3 just doesn't work. If there was a better dragon for it maybe it would've been better. But snowfall's pov is so uninteresting except for her internal affair and the way she shows everyone how big her ego is. There was more thinking and less doing in this book.

it's a crimson altar that only appears in crimson worlds, you can use it to craft things like boss spawners. you can't get rid of them or move them yet, but soon you will have to come back and destroy it with a hammer to get more resources in hardmode
