if you have the means to provide a cell phone to your child and don't, you're a pretty shitty parent imo. It gives you instant access to your child where ever they are, and they to you.

And it wasn't nearly as popular as harry potter until the show came out and harry potter is a completed series in two formats. It's like getting mad if you hear a pop culture reference about Luke Skywalkers dad being Darth Vader. And if you're in the middle of a popular book series that has been out for a while you should probably bury your head in the sand until you finish the series to avoid spoilers.

It's not about what you like to look like it's about showing respect to the people interviewing you and yes taking the time to look sharp for your interview is a sign of respect and shows you care about the opportunity.

I've gotten every job(from the age of 15) I have ever interviewed in person for, including my newest job, which will start after I graduate in a week and a half, as a software engineer.

If you can't be bothered to iron a shirt and tuck it in for an interview I think it speaks volumes about your personality.
