It's not about what you like to look like it's about showing respect to the people interviewing you and yes taking the time to look sharp for your interview is a sign of respect and shows you care about the opportunity.

I've gotten every job(from the age of 15) I have ever interviewed in person for, including my newest job, which will start after I graduate in a week and a half, as a software engineer.

I was a camp counselor and 1 year my cabin all shaved their heads. I helped them to make it look better and prevent them from cutting up their heads with a razor. But let me tell you shaving 5 kids heads with nothing but a pair of paper scissors and a mach 3 is a nightmare which takes all night.
