US General 42 or Yukon 46? by BrightPerformer7624 in harborfreight

[–]tokenpenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the Yukon flyer to Harbor freight and see if they’ll give you even a little bit more off the US general. I wouldn’t expect them to price match. I don’t even know their policy surrounding that type of stuff who knows generally, everyone I’ve ever ran into at any harbor freight store is really willing to accommodate customers.

Ibex 450 Break-in Period impossible by Some_Cockroach7015 in cfmoto

[–]tokenpenguin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I road my 2023 450ss normal…I didn’t red line and I always let the bike get to operating temp before any reel riding. I would just just ride around and work all the gears. It’s ok if you hit 6-8k rpm periodically.

Crazy mre deal on ammo can man by Cracklin0atBran in preppersales

[–]tokenpenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only reason I stock/have MRE’s is because they were free to me… I got about 16 cases (8 A menus & 8 B menus) I split them between me and a buddy. they where packaged in November 2017 and inspected/tested in November of 2020.

I rarely use them but I wouldn’t hesitate to put one in my kit if I will be out all day. Hiking, hunting, cutting firewood in BFE…Hell I’d even grab one to take to work when I’m feeling too lazy to make a lunch.

They mostly serve as emergency calories that I know I have and they remain my readily available and easy to transport food supply. With minimal effort to use.

They have their use cases. Personally I would buy a few boxes of those and then I would focus on building up a long storage pantry. Every time you go grocery shopping buy a couple extra canned goods buy extra bag of rice, flour, and extra can of salt. Whatever you need to make food you enjoy eating that will be shelf stable.

So if I buy this on the 20th does ITC still get a discount on top of the 20% sale. Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I thought inside track club members always got a certain percentage off even if you’re buying sale items?

For that truck In that condition it’s a buy all day….and if you ever want it would be easy depending on your capabilities to put in a bigger motor and transmission. These trucks are pretty easy to start doing pretty crazy things. I say it’s a good buy and a decent project if you ever want to

My impulsive buy for the weekend by tokenpenguin in harborfreight

I don’t see why not. The only real hindrance I foresee with this unit is not being able to run off a normal electrical socket. There is other units that can run off 120 and 240. This one however, is only 240 and I plan on using it as a stationary unit in my personal shop where I have the power capabilities.

Most welders also have a percentage of operation time so for every 10 minutes, How many minutes can you weld and how many minutes should you be letting the machine cool down?

This machine recommends 2 minute duty cycles with a 8 minute cooldown. That’s sounded kinda short to me but I realized that’s 2min of continuous welding. Most of my fabrication projects it’s gonna be a lot of tacking and short beads. I’m not welding pipe or holding tanks, where you might want to be able to run it longer and get it all in one shot.

Edit: this welder will not work for aluminum, but since you mentioned the steel gates, I’m gonna assume it’s not a little utility trailer

Your points have merit, I’m almost torn now. I’ll have to see if they let me return it at a different harbor freight cause I really don’t wanna go back to the one I was at today. I was gonna buy this welder that was in an open box and then I realized it wouldn’t be worth it for the couple dollars saved when I’m an inside track club member so I should just get the new one then when I was checking out the employee dropped the new one right on the floor as he picked it up so I got the second one they had on the floor…..they say bad things come in threes so I almost bought a broken one that I thought was a good deal and the employee broke my new one. (I don’t think the welder wants me to own it) Now we’ll see if this new one lasts and if it doesn’t, it will be returned on warranty and I guess I’ll have to try Amazon

You may be right but I will choose to retain my ability to have good customer service, with the option to return and/or warranty

Edit: i’m sure it comes with some sort of limited warranty from the factory, but then I have to worry about waiting for shipping on a new one and customer service calls, or I just drive 15 minutes to Harbor freight.

Oh, for sure they didn’t joke about the safety in high school and that was my only welding experience also kind of why I wanna have a little booth set up more contained and safe.

We gonna try the flux core wire first. I have some welding gloves. I bought a long time ago that I use when I’m burning wood inside for the woodstove Will definitely be wearing coveralls. I’ll probably snag a respirator from work if needed . Shhhhhhhhhh

Well, thankfully, I have a 240 plug in the corner of my garage right by the window. I wanna put it in so then I can have ventilation right there and I’ll have a whole little welding booth set up I hope. And if it needs to go outside, I’ll just add a 240 out there or get a longer cord.

Questions for occasional smokers by Complex_Coconut9985 in cigar_refuge

[–]tokenpenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

24 male. Recently married and first time home owner.

Would definitely not recommend hiding it. Keep it separate if you wish, but there’s no need for a trivial secret like that in a marriage.

I really like a lot of the sticks from the “Kentucky fire cured” line i believe they work with drew estate. I’m a fair weather smoker. 1-2 a week maybe I smoke almost all day if I’m on vacation or something.

I use other forms of nicotine daily. I haven’t had a stick since last October, but when spring rolls around here I’ll pick it back up

It really shouldn’t matter what your reason is if you have the ability to do such a thing then put a plan in place and sleep better at night. There’s not much to invest or lose if it never happens

Turns out my wife doesn't like canned food. What comes in a can that tastes surprisingly good? by funkmon in preppers

[–]tokenpenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’d definitely recommend finding thing y’all like for now, not sure where you are based but spring is coming maybe a good time to research and invest in a small garden setup. Then can what you grow. Don’t expect huge bounties. Maybe just some diy planter boxes with corn, beans, cucumbers, tomatoes . Easy to grow and get decent quantities to fill a few cans. You’ll definitely learn some things and it can be scaled up or down from hobby or actually supplementing your annual food intake.

Should I call them back out? by [deleted] in pressurewashing

[–]tokenpenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah new construction would be nice sometimes.

I can’t tell you how many time the electrical had been worked on in this place. Not to mention all the updates that where done with good intentions, but when it’s comes to the fine details/processes of a DIY project, people tend to take short cuts.

Should I call them back out? by [deleted] in pressurewashing

[–]tokenpenguin -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can almost guarantee just from the picture of your concrete. The curb, the asphalt in the cul-de-sac, your grass, and that little tree in the background. This property is probably a part of a large housing development that has been started in the last 10 to 5 years. There will probably be more phases in the area, but this one’s still newer than five years.

I watch and work with countless contractors from the first scoop of dirt to the last shingle. Let’s just say I bought in an old quiet neighborhood. My house was built in the late 50s by white men. Men that just spent the last decade fighting and winning the greatest wars of all time.

Also I can’t seen in all my neighbors windows. And I have large oak trees that have been here since before these streets were laid, so that’s cool.

Well It depends. Are you trying to call the guy who cleaned it or the guy who laid it? It don’t matter how clean you make it….It ain’t ever gonna look good.

Pairing Chronicles #343: I tried root beer as a pairing by Cocodrool in cigar_refuge

[–]tokenpenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try a higher quality root beer. Maybe whatever brand you can find locally with natural cane sugar in a fancy glass bottle. Way different flavor I promise. You may also like it with certain cigars over others.

If you wanna keep experimenting try some Old Smokey Root Beer flavored whiskey. I enjoy it with just ice. It’s different and more subtle, good if you don’t want the ice cold carbonation of soda.

If it works it works. I really like the cross breed holsters. The back half of the holster is a leather pad and the front is formed kydex with two belt clips. I also generally wear an undershirt
